As responding to the 'zillion threads on this issue is a pain I was just wondering if you saw the search function at the top of the page.

Indeed it is.
It's been mentioned before (/hint /hint search ) that winamp has a HTML extension, which would allow you to use the in-game browser to control it directly.

Since you can define global hotkeys in Winamp, you should be able to control your music with pretty much any keyboard while playing...

Why is it the morons who know nothing seem to be the first to flame and act smart by useing the same response such as
"As responding to the 'zillion threads on this issue is a pain I was just wondering if you saw the search function at the top of the page. "
"Yea search is truly your best friend."
Indeed it is.
"It's been mentioned before (/hint /hint search ) that winamp has a HTML extension, which would allow you to use the in-game browser to control it directly."
Instead of suggesting the search function which 90% of the time is cluttered with moronic responses such as thee above.
or how bout give a yes or no answer and or a link to the thread that contains the answer this person seeks instead of proof your idiociy.
Or try ignoring the thread and say nothing sence you seem to know nothing
thanks to those that have responed with answers not stupid suggestions.

I wonder what you call procrastination before it happens?

lol you guys are funny.
You guys can tell him "the search function is your friend", but that doesn't answer his question. Makes you sound like a lot of the people from EQ2Flames. (I'm sure it was more less a joke)
Anyways...
The UI can not be modded to allow an ingame mp3 player like Winamp to work. The only way we can have something like this is if the devs decide to implement it sometime in the future. It would probably work just like our ingame browser does, that uses the firefox engine.
Also since we're on the subject, it's kind of like how you can't make a notepad mod. It's not like WoW where the devs give all the code to the modders and allow to do whatever they want with it, our devs do not give us the proper tools to make these things.

Sometimes, I see a question that I have a (snarky) answer to, and I start to reply. About halfway through I recognize that my answer doesn't really shed any light on the situation and might make the original poster feel bad that they ever posted in the first place. As I'd rather see the crop of regular posters grow, I either rewrite my answer or scrap it altogether.
I know that there are questions that have been asked and answered a zillion times. Perhaps we as a community should work on a FAQ that we can direct people to when they ask. Maybe a ui wiki even?

Why?
I just don't see what the big fascination of having an in-game mp3 player is! If anything, it would just be another draw on the system's resources!
What's so hard about listening to your desired music via....ohh, I don't know.....a stereo perhaps??
What a concept!!

Eh, use linux, then you can have a 2nd X session on the laptop to the right of your main computer and run the MP3 player over there. Has the added feature of not wasting any additional screen space on your eq2 screen.

It "could" be done. But it would have to be implemented and created by the developers. And I'm pretty sure they aren't planning on doing this anytime soon, mainly because of all the many alternatives that exist.
But ya never know. I mean, look we got a ping meter after 3 years.
