Yet another guild
By: mother9987 - 06-13-2009 06:34 PM
mother9987's Avatar Ok, the raiding crew of Faith and Justice seperated off and formed a new guild called Sedition. Much to my own surprise, as I don't consider myself anything of a raider, I went with them. I have nothing but positive feelings for either group.

For anyone who is really bored and wants to see what a UI author with no real life does with his real life, I got a twitter account. http://twitter.com/mother9987. Actually, it's fun. I decided to get an account when I found I could follow Adam from Mythbusters.

Yes, I really am that big of a geek.

Back to playing
By: mother9987 - 04-14-2009 08:43 AM
mother9987's Avatar I've been playing more often lately. I had dropped down to an hour or so per week. For the most part, my guild Five Finger Discount had quit playing and being the only person online was just depressing. I tried to convince the guild that a merger with a stronger guild was the best option, but that was met with strong resistance... or so I was told by the only person who spoke with me about it.

Anyhow, I was playing about two weeks ago and saw a guild recruiting. I finally decided that although I love the members of FFD, I didn't owe them anything. I dropped a couple weeks more rent on the guild house and moved to Faith and Justice. They're a great group of people, and if anyone on Everfrost is looking to move to a new guild, you could do a lot worse than to consider them.

In general, I recommend to anyone who's guild has really fizzled out that they find a new active guild. I should have moved over a year ago, but felt like it was some kind of betrayal. In that way, that's where EQ2's system fails. People choose a guild and tend to stay there.

With my roots in FFXI, I'm used to the far more fluid nature of the linkshells. You can belong to as many of those as you have inventory space for. If yours doesn't seem to be working out, you can accept a pearl from someone else and try it for a few days. If it doesn't work out, you re-equip the old pearl - no harm, no foul.

I'm all for guild loyalty, I don't recommend switching constantly. But when loyalty to the guild hampers enjoyment of the game, I guess it's time to evaluate your thought process.

Personally I'm enjoying the game more now than I have in a long time.

Group Window Updated
By: mother9987 - 04-14-2008 08:40 AM
mother9987's Avatar I've implemented the ideas people gave me for level/class display. Thanks to everyone who contributed. Thanks to my guild Five Finger Discount, nearly all of whom I press-ganged to help me test the group window at one point or another!

I hope the changes are enough to remove the annoying parts of the display (like covering status indicators), yet still provide the benefits I was aiming for. (Quickly determining who to cast what buffs on at the beginning of a group.)

Please keep the comments coming in. I improve things on my own, but it works better when I get input from others who also use the mods.

Also: I know everyone might be cringing from yet another update, but I'll be looking at the comments I saw in the group window (F2-6 indicators, pre-included .txt files of the target and assist macros that can be run with /do_file_commands). So, there might be another another version not too far out there - get your desired features in the queue if you have any!

Group, Target, Player, Pet windows updated
By: mother9987 - 04-10-2008 01:50 PM
mother9987's Avatar I know it's hard to be blindsided by a GU. I knew it was coming, but it always seemed there would be more time to squeeze in a few new features before the GU... until it was here.

Anyhow, I pushed out my updates that I'd been stockpiling for GU44... There's still a few minor issues to work out, but it's perfectly functional for now. (Unless someone finds and reports another bug )

Edit: I've implemented the ideas people gave me for level/class display. Thanks to everyone who contributed. Thanks to my guild Five Finger Discount, nearly all of whom I press-ganged to help me test the group window at one point or another!

Here's the text of the update (another change of format, feel free to tell me your thoughts on the style.) And download the new Mother's Health Windows.

Coming soon in Percent and Naked flavors.

Mother's Health Windows
GU 44 Update

Description:
This started out mostly as me just messing around. But I actually liked it when I loaded it up to look.

The theme is loosely inspired by the FFXI group window. So, if you played that game, it should look somewhat familiar.

Features:
  • Click-To-Cure - I finally made a healer alt, so click-to-cure seemed like a good idea.
  • Tank-finder[tm] - make a macro that when triggered auto-targets a single member of your group or your pet
  • Tank-assist[tm] - make a macro that when triggered auto-assists a single member of your group.

Changes from Mother's Group Windows:
  • Combined the files for Group, Player, Pet, Target, Implied Target
  • Made graphical changes to the health and power bars that I think look sharper, and could improve performance slightly (<1 fps, but enough of those changes can add up)
  • Mouse over group window when not in combat will display level and class of group members
  • Changed the macros for tank finder and tank assist so they should work more consistently
  • Added support for curse indicator and click to cure curse
  • Changed click-to-cures to use /useabilityonplayer

Version history:
1.0.2
Fixed target and implied target power not updating in frames version.

Fixed a minor bug with background of group members health bars not changing color with the foreground.

1.0.1
Fixed the target and implied target windows claiming they were an old version. Fixed target and implied target power bar not working.

Fixed incorrect pet window being packaged with the mod.

Fixed display of group debuffs.

I think that's it. Thanks to Fae for helping me test repeatedly!

1.0.0
Initial Release

To Install:
If you already have an EQ2UI_Custom.xml file in your custom ui folder, do not overwrite it. Just add the line:

Code:
<include>_Mothers_Styles.xml</include>
before the </Page> line.

With the rest of the files, just unzip into your custom ui folder overwriting any file with the same name already there.

Instructions to use:
TankFinder[tm]. There is a radio button just to the right of each group-member's HP display. If you click there, you mark that player as the tank and a little white box will appear to indicate tank status.

To target the tank, make a macro:
Code:
/target_none
/show_window MainHUD.GroupMembers.Target
TankAssist[tm] Technology. Just like TankFinder[tm], but does a /assist instead of a /target. Hey, it was a request.

To assist the tank, make a macro:
Code:
/target_none
/show_window MainHUD.GroupMembers.Assist
