They are incorrect, EQ2MAP and the default map are identical with respect to the fog, it is all hardcoded and sent by the server.

You can hide the fog via this useful EQ2MAP plugin: http://www.eq2interface.com/download...ap-plugin.html or do it manually via this command:
hide_window MainHUD.Map.MapPage.
