Still alive !

Hi peeps,

Just to let those of you know that have been asking I am still lurking here and 'did' have plans to remake Laffs Lite and Perdition bottom a month or so ago and started playing again on a new char (after my main got disbanded from a hardcore raiding guild for inactivity lol surprise surprise)

So what UI did I install after I found much needed components of my UI's broken? ....

eXtreem at first but my poor eyes and fingers had problems dealing with little icons, besides it was a constant reminder that I should update my stuff LOL (awesome feature packed UI Landiin mate it has progressed very nicely over time and well presented also)

Ok so time for a change me thinks ... hello ProfitUI ! ... Taken a hell of a lot of getting used to the different layout and where to look for stuff during combat etc.. but equally as awesome as eXtreem ..

Two very different UI's but both with exceptional functionality, And also made and maintained by two great guys gm9 and Landiin ....

So look at my competition LOL ... It would take me 3 months to even get close to those standards...

I have not thrown in the towel just yet though !

I been working real hard at one of my goals in life, and I would say I have achieved it now in an unexpected way.

For those of you that don't know I run my own small construction company as a main job for 20yrs now...

But one of my goals was to make some sort of living from what I enjoy doing .. messing about with code, websites and marketing....

Well I think with 50% luck and 50% hard work I have achieved that and am now a IT manager / web developer with an awards company..

Thats my title, myself I would simply say I was just a code monkey with a title LOL .. but that wouldn't look good at meetings I figure lol...

Anyway as you can well imagine all games are now on hold and the possibility of even considering trying to get up to scratch with my UI's is on hold also...

All I can say is sorry to those of you that have used and still try to patch up and use my creations

This not how I intended it to be, I thought I would always be able to maintain and update, But the work load at present is pretty high, not an excuse but a fact..

Good to see you're "Still Alive!". I never really got to see/use anything of yours, and never really got to chat so HI! Looking forward to see your return whenever that may be. ProfitUI is great, eXtremeUI is great, and they both got some good people maintaining it. (Good luck competing with that

) Don't tell gm9 but I've got faith that some day someone will annihilate ProfitUI, even though I use that UI.

It could very much be you.

Oh and since you've been gone a lot has changed and people have left and come. We've only got a handful of active modders and "regulars" like myself though.

Taco-Man left 2005 (I think it was) for WoW and I think he came back later and then left again due to time constraints.

With that said, welcome back!

Dragowulf: Hi, we did get to chat a little lol I recall long time back, Shortly after you had just joined us, I think it was concerning modding either the target or exp window.. or something like that lol...

And just having a quick look though the forums there is many names I do not know... and also many name's I do not see

... A shame but times change.... as you well know.

gm9: Hi again been long time since we communicated last.. Like I said the UI is top class a job well done

, The whole of my ex raiding guild used it lol .. I do recall mentioning once over "Have you guys seen that Laffs Lite UI ?" the response was "Never heard of that what Ui is that then?" ... well 30 seconds later I say in /raid Ooops sorry guys ! "TRAIN INC!!" ... hahaha

And actually it is not that far off like making UI's , have to work with lots of xml feeds (like RSS but not quite) and parse the data to make it display and do what I want it too and also update the MySql databases with it for use...

So yes not the far off in concept... and it is just as frustrating at times also!

True, has been a while. Thanks for the praise. Regarding your guild story: I did a poll on my guild's website a while ago about which UI they use - it was a tie between Thor and Fetish, with mine having a honorable mention. So I can relate.

Dude everyone I know uses ProfitUI lol. Those who don't usually use Fetish, eXtreme or default.

Well I say that partly because gm9 has thrice the amount of features the other UI's don't have and he updates it almost daily. Although Landiin is doing an excellent job trying to keep up (kidding). Right now it seems that those two update it daily, and IDK what's going on with ThorUI (i lost my UI virginity to ThorUI lol).

I really can't wait to see what new things you've got to bring to the table.

Hey Laffs, glad you're doing well.

As far as the competition thing goes... I encourage you to update your stuff. While I don't personally go in for the HUD type UIs, I know alot of people really liked yours. As far as catching up on features goes... sometimes less is more

Here and there. Started playing again a couple months back, and got back to the UI stuff. Been busy during school, but livin' is easy going.

And also yes a very true statement you make, That holds true to many net related thing's not just UI's as you well know.... Starting to think "outside of the box"

Drumstix42 : I am pleased to hear that all is good with you, and seems like your progressing well with you scholarship I hope. (sorry that's the UK term for it, not sure what you guys call it)

gm9 : A good PR man dragowulf would be for you, let me set up his his contract for you with my usual 10% fee LOL
