Default UI Builder Help

The UI Builder has several frustrating aspects but none more so that manipulating objects in the design window. Is there a thread somewhere that has some basic instructions for the UI Builder?

Of particular interest is how does one bring forward an object that is hidden behind everything else? I'm trying to modify a map's icons and I get the red box over the space where the icon should be, but it is covered by the full-paned transition window and I have no idea how to move the transition window to one side or to the background. I tried using the z-order but that just moves it around in the tree view and doesn't seem to do anything in the design pane.

Thanks for any help. Maybe a sticky topic for UI Builder help would be neat.

At the top of the objects tree there are a few buttons, the arrow up with the line at the top moves the object to the top. Select the object that you want to change z order for and use this button to bring it all the way to the top. The other arrows have similar effects on the z order of a particular object.
