Default about ui for individual characters

Hi!
I don't know if its even possible but was wondering, is there a (easy) way to set up my UI for individual characters? I have 3 healer types and 2 fighter types, I also have 3 mage types (including a necro) and it would be nice if I could base my UI off of each character. for example, the 2 druids get the druid ring recalls, the warlock and wizard get the spires. The necro is only one with a pet. My monk and zerker don't get anything specific like that so their ui is a lot different (less hotbars and screen real estate needed)
It seems a pain to have to take 10 minutes everytime I log a character to adjust the screen/hotbars etc and if I happen to log from one of my 3 computers I not only have to adjust basics but compensate for a different resolution (sadly they all have different settings and cannot make them all the same due to monitor issues)
any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated!

PS please keep in mind im not rocket scientist, just a gaget geek and an EQ2 junkie
Thanx!

all interface settings are locally stored in the <server>_<character>_eq2_uisettings.ini files per character, so you really only need to set them up once. You can copy those files to other computers to keep the settings, and you can /load_uisettings to load the setup of an alt on the same computer.

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.

Yep. The window locations and such are stored in the file gm9 mentioned. But these give no information regarding the UI, and so assume you're using only one UI.

If your intention is to use different actual UIs ((not that I could see why you would need to instead of incorporating it all into one UI, but I digress)) then you will have to log out and change your eq2.ini file to reflect the UI you want to use. If this is your intent I suggest making some batch files ((sigh, other people remember batch files right?)) to automatically swap to the UI you want with a simple double click and then open EQ2.

EQ2 Henchman's character switch allows you to change UI when you switch characters if your UI supports it that is.

In the logout script just add
loadui <uiname>
load_uisettings <char ui file>

Granted there are a couple issues with /laodui but I've never found them game breaking.

Thank you both for responding, as far as the window locations and whatnot this is good to know. I try to keep all 3 systems running the same mods so that would be an easy(ish) thing to do. my trouble I guess stems more from fitting things on a 22 in wide screen monitor to fitting things on a 20 inch standard monitor then down to fitting them to a 17 inch widescreen monitor (lol yea a bit of a problem there)
I pretty much use the network to share/transfer stuff so copying the ini files should be goof proof.

Now the hard part... ummm what's a batch file ok ok all kidding aside I guess what Im wanting to do isn't use "different UIs" Ie Thor for one toon profit for another and so on... What Im refering to is more along the lines of
Ok my necro needs the pet window so when I log him, my pet window is placed where I want it, but my wizzy uses the spires so when I log him, the extra hotbar with the spires is there and in place. My warden has the druid rings so she has an extra hotbar as well but my mystic doesn't so she wouldn't need the extra bar.
Not only am I trying to get the right info for the right character Im also attempting to get it to display properly on each diff resolution if I have all 10 hotbars and the icons are set at say...39 then on my 20 inch would show them ok but my 17 inch would be squished and on the 22 inch I wouldn't be able to see them and there would be LOTS of dead space all around them.
I guess with my wordy post here, Im asking IS there a universal setting that would take into account screen res and adapt accordingly?

Yes and No.

I am guessing your talking about playing on 2 deferent computers? In that case each toon will have its own ui settings file on each computer. You only need to adjust them once per computer. There isn't any reliable way you can take the settings from one computer with a large res setting and put in on another computer with a lower res setting and every thing line up just the way they where on the other computer. It would be a good starting point for the seconded computer but you would have to make manual adjustments to get it right. If your UI comes with a setting for both res sizes then you all set.

Now if you talking about switching out monitor/LCD's then the best thing to do is set ever thing up the way you like it on one monitor and do /save_uisettings <name> then do the same for the other monitor. Now when you have said monitor attached you can do /load_uisettings <name>. Keep in mind that if you name the file 20.ini 17.ini ect. they will not show up in the uisettings list. but you can load them by doing /load_uisettings 17.ini.

It has been a while since I have played with the /save / /load uisettings commands but they use to work that way.

It also depends on your UI and how you set it up. ProfitUI for example will scale all windows automatically (the only two exceptions are the top left and top right bars since the game resizing code is a bit buggy and having them resize automatically leads to problems when switching between windows and fullscreen modes often).

Now, if you take your small screen setup and copy that to the higher res computers it should scale without issue, so if you want to synchronize it should be in that direction.

If, however, you take the large screen setup not everything might fit on your small screen, since some windows must have minimum sizes, and depending on how you arranged them they may not be able to scale down as far.

I hope that made some sense...

PS: However, as I said, you could also just take the time to set it up correctly once for each resolution and then never change it again (and don't synchronize it). That's certainly the easiest solution.

Thanks guys!
taking your suggestions/comments into account I can set up the systems (3 of them btw) and get the exact same UI on all three including placement of interface pieces. it's gonna take a bit of tweaking but I know it can be done...so, when Im not on with my necro 'll just hide the pet window and just be a matter of replacing wizzy spires with druid ports on hotkeys.
now to go make sure I have my UI "right" in at least one of them...blasted updates at soe keeps breakin em
