That really depends on what the EQ2Maps guys did, but I think it will work.

I have nothing against Java (it is GPL'ed now after all ), and I think that users will not mind either way as long as it works.

I know that there is at least one auto-updater written in Java available on SourceForge - I had already searched for an existing software that I could customize for my needs a while ago. However, I just don't have the time to take on that project.

So if you want to give it a go to build one from scratch or start off with the existing one, you are more than welcome. Best send me a PM so we can discuss the details.
