The attached SS is at the minimum width for the download section (larger than 800 across). If you're shooting for 800x600 friendly, yah might wanna look into this.

I understand my suggested layout would cause some wrapping with long data. I guess it's a personal preference. Personally I'd rather have all the info up top with most of it not wrapping on most screens and save the virtical scrolling.

If the widgets can be easily tweaked for each page template, you could colspan the couple things likely to wrap.

Except that the default thread behavior places the most recent comment on the last page, which isn't where you land when clicking into the thread from other links. To read the most recent comment, you have to find the pager after a description of random length or scroll to the bottom.

Its convienient to have navigational aids at a fixed location above the window line. By all means, keep the copy above the comments too.

I'd wrap the whole thing in a twisty/rollup that's closed on page 2+. Maybe add a preference setting to expand them by default.
