Some Suggestions
1 Attachment(s)
First off I love the recent changes :)
Attached a JPG showing some layout tweaks for consideration. List of Tweaks 1) Added the pager widget below the new Buttons widget. 2) Moved File Statistics widget up top next to the Interface Info widget. 3) Removed the "Uploaded By" line since its almost always the same as Author. Might not be a viable if the new "allow uploads" feature will result in this field being different than Author, or maybe the widget isn't easily customizable for different page templates. 4) Removed the word "Last" from the "Last Modified" label to save some space. Also changed the Date format to save a little more space. 5) Reordered the File Stats rows to line up more logically with the Interface Info rows. 6) Changed the "Pictures" box to allow text wrap-around. This layout might result in some less-than-ideal line wraps inside the top section, but overall it should save some space while putting all the overview info up top. Allowing descriptions to wrap around the pictures box should save a bunch of scrolling :) |

moving the file stats up top wont work well specialy when the mod has a large name or large author name and some one is browsing at 800x600. (site is still 800x600 friendly with no horz. scroll bar). doesnt make any sense to me to move the pageination to up top, its for comments so you'd expect it to be near the top of the comments. thinking about having it so if you view page 2+ of the comments it doesnt show the file info, just the comments. Thanks for taking the time to give your input. :) |
While we're talking suggestions, I mentioned something about the per-author interface list a couple days ago. Since then I tried out the download search, which is awesome, and a lot closer to what I expected the per-author list to be able to do. Might it be easier to just add the edit icon and a total entries/downloads listing to the search page rather than rewriting the per-author list from scratch?

I understand my suggested layout would cause some wrapping with long data. I guess it's a personal preference. Personally I'd rather have all the info up top with most of it not wrapping on most screens and save the virtical scrolling. If the widgets can be easily tweaked for each page template, you could colspan the couple things likely to wrap. Quote:
Its convienient to have navigational aids at a fixed location above the window line. By all means, keep the copy above the comments too. Quote:
Here's a sample page that uses twisties. Quote:

Hrmm... apparently code tags force a width greater than 800, might wanna tweak their width/cols setting.
Pages without code tags squish down nicely :) |

i can understand why you dont want the file statistics stuff to the right of the info...but what about just putting it just below the info? something like the picture down below. you may have to scroll on the picture i attached if you run at a low resolution

Text now wraps around the picture if its longer. :)
