Default Clear Chat Macro

Probably not the correct board so please move as needed.

The chat box has a right-click menu option to clear chat text. Can this feature be applied to a macro button or even added as a click button on the chat frame itself?

The command /clearchat works like a charm.

Thanks for bringing that up. I'll be sure to add it to the chat window I've been working on.

Wow. I can be such an idiot. I didn't even think to try something as simple as that.

Thanks for the response.

FYI, just to clairify why I was interested, the Clear Chat option is right next to the option that gets rid of the entire chat window (for good). This has caused problems when in the middle of conjested action and has forced me to setup every tab I have all over from scratch more times than I care to admit.

Anyways, look forward to seeing your finished chat mod.

The easy way to bring back your chat tabs if you accidentally deleted them is by using /load_uisettings on your own settings file right away (i.e. before having camped to another toon).

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.

Nice trick. Now I've learned 2 things from such a stupid thread that probably didn't need to be started. O'well, at least I came out of it with something.

Thanks to both of you.

If you learned something from the thread, then it wasn't stupid =)

So I set up /clearchat as a macro on my hotbar and it works like a charm. This is doubly nice since now I don't need to worry about losing tabs (although the suggestion above helps that) but now I can clear both of my chat boxes with 1 simple mouse click. Very handy.

Thanks again.

Well, it may be a while. I was planning on releasing it as part of my complete UI. I've been working on getting all of my functionality implemented and from there, I will complete the visuals. I may release it as a stand alone as well, but at this point my main concern is the complete package.

lots of us really like it when authors release parts of their complete UI as individual pieces...

I agree, and after thinking about it, it wouldn't take any effort to just post it as a stand alone piece once it's ready. Especially since the reskin won't happen till after I get all my functionality set. I'll just post the default skin version that will eventually become the new Dyre chat window.
