Default Installing ui

In the eq2interface instructions for installing ui items this is noted:

# Download the interface you wish to use
# Make a new folder ...
# Unzip the xml, ...
# If you are going to use multiple interface peices just unzip all of them into the same folder.
# Go back to your Everquest II directory and create a new text file and put the following code inside of it:
Code:

cl_ui_skinname bobsui cl_ui_subdir UI/

I installed eq2maps and an ini file was created already. That all works great.

Now, I want to install wildsongs ts ui. do I unzip it into the eq2maps folder as these instructions say? or do i create a new folder. Let me assume I have to create a new folder. So then I add a second line in the ini file that uses the folder name as its target?

Any help installing more then one addon would be appreciated. The instructions are very vague and havent helped so far.

Follow all the steps that the other add on gives. Then run the autoupdater and it should automatically detect the other UI and install EQ2MAP with it.

I think you answered your own question. Out of interest though: You have found instructions clearly telling you what to do - now why post a question here instead of simply doing it? I'd just like to understand the train of thought, maybe that will help us making the instructions even more clear.

And while I'm talking to you: please stop the necro posting, you resurrected a some of old threads today and that's rarely a good idea. Thanks.

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.

not sure how I answered my own question since I tried for a few hours before posting a question. But let me try again from the beginning.

I installed eq2maps using the exe and it works great. I wanted to add another ui so I look in the instructions. I create a new folder, drop the ui in. Add a 2nd line in the ini, restart game. Doesnt work. Reread the instructions and it states that if you want to add multiple ui pieces, unzip all into same folder. So I tried that, still nothing. Editied the ini back to the way eq2maps created it, still no extra ui parts.

So just trying to figure out what to do.

Well the answer is exactly what you quoted from the FAQ, put everything into the same folder (eq2map) and do not mess with the eq2.ini that the EQ2MAP updater created.

Of course if the mod you are installing contains a specific folder structure best check the mod specific installation instructions but the end result must always be a single UI folder with only a single reference to it in eq2.ini.

this was the exact wording I was looking for, thank you. Now for the second part of the question. I have had eq2maps installed for some time now. I dropped the 2 files for wildsongs tradeskill ui into the same folder. The ini file i left alone.

The ts mod doesnt come up so do I have to something special to trigger it the first time? No special instructions are mentioned in the post by wildsong.

Just extract every thing into the eq2map folder. Assuming that is where the eq2.ini points too.
