can't use the chat window

I can move it around, and set options. but every time I hit enter, or /. the box to chat in pops up and away really fast, and all the keys go back to doing stuff for the game.

one more issue, I opened a new chat window as well (was going to try and see if it worked there) and now I can't get rid of that one.

Try right-clicking the window and selecting "always chat here". You should be able to click the [x] at the upper right corner of chat windows to close them. Otherwise just pull it into an existing chat window and remove the tab.

I found out how to close them. and the always chat trick didn't work, I tried it on 2 diffrent windows, and when I hit enter, the chatbox would do the same thing on which ever had always chat here.. I deleted the mainchat xml for the time being and just using the eq2 default.

You can right click the window, choose window settings and change the frame and titlebar thing then switch it back. Always works for me when I gotta reinstall

That is strange. On both the Test server and my server Runnyeye you do not need to do that since it is already enabled by default. And of course loading the provided default uisettings also sets it up correctly.

i have the same issue as the OP

if i hit enter as fast as i can the most i can get are little flash drop downs.

another member of my guild has the same issue

and always chat here doesnt fix it, nor have any other suggestions ive seen as of yet

This worked for me. I switched the frame option from "None" to "Frame Only" and then back to "None" and i could use the chat.
