Rescuing the Relics
After the 6th or 7th time of doing this quest - I figured I would get the locations for the relics. I am not to sure if it would be possible to break the map off from the one it currently uses (the sunken city) or add these to that map. I would think that a clean map would be better.
If this is the wrong forum - feel free to move it as needed.

You can submit POIs to EQ2MAP here. You cannot create separate maps for each quest and with that amount of POIs I kinda wonder whether there is any difficulty in finding the locations in the first place, i.e. whether it is worth it to add these in, but that's up to you. In any case, if you just post them on the forums they cannot and will not be used unfortunately.

I think they're talking about making a separate map because it's not the normal zone. It's a special instance of the zone -- don't we still have a way to split off separate maps even when the map style is the same?

if it's a special instance it should have a different mapstyle name/internal zone name and we can make a separate map. If it doesn't, then no, it's not possible.

Hmm maybe it's the mapstyle name that I'm thinking of. What did we use back in the old days, was it just the file name of the art file for the zone?

I know that. I was just wondering if we always had that, because I remember something about having to look at the last modified file back in the day.
Anyway, that's not all that important. I'll check the map style next time I see that instance available.

That command has existed at least since when I started playing around with the interface. Before that I do not know.
I remember the old tutorial having that reference to the last modified cache files you are thinking of but whether that was because it was the only option or whether it was because the /command was simply unknown I ignore.

Yah - I didn't think that it would be a good idea to load those POIs into the shared map that it is using now.
It is a unique instance sort of like the Ship Building one is a unique instance of Cove of Decay. Unfortunately, I have to wait 3 weeks before the zone is back open to me.

Ok, the map style name is adv04_dun_endless_obj_tradeskill and the zone name is "Rescuing the Relics". It has all the same levels as the Forsaken City.
While we're at it, can also copy the maps for Nizara, City of the Nayad (map style adv04_dun_endless_nayad_city) to a separate map (also uses all 5 levels).

Alright, so I made two replica of The Forsaken City, one for "Rescuing the Relics" and one for "Nizara, City of Nayad", they are on the updater and you can add POIs to them.
Any more zones like that, let me know.
PS: Because it would be a shame to let that POI list in the OP go to waste, if those are supposed to all have the same name/description/type then let me know and add at least one manually via the normal POI submission form, I can probably use some regex and sql magic to add all the others in one go then. Otherwise you'll have to do it manually.
PS2: lordebon, since there are possibly already POIs for the instances submitted to the base map, I'd say it's your job to find those and move them.

Yeah, I'll take a look at the list for the Forsaken City this weekend and move any that belong in Nizara (or the relics one).
I wonder if it's it to create copies for all the monk trial instances. That'd be a lot of copies... hmm, when looking for maps does it just work backwards? IE if say a mapstyle is adv04_dun_endless_obj_monk1 through adv04_dun_endless_obj_monk6 (that's made up, haven't checked the real mapstyle yet), if we defined a map as adv04_dun_endless_obj would all of those point to that? The monk trials are similar so maybe we could do just one map for all of them.

Would probably work, although I'd like it tested first. The names are basically hierarchical and if no map is found the map system falls back one level and tries again (although it doesn't fall back completely).
Talking about testing, someone should also test the replica maps I added when they get a chance. We've had a few instances where there was a bug and you could not actually create multiple maps for a zone (the _# was not recognized).
Regarding the monk trials, if they would all have the same POIs we could add them as a single fallback map, otherwise I'd rather add them separately I suppose, it's a bit more work but the cleaner solution in the end.

Yeah, if no one gets to them by this weekend I'll test them as well. As for the monk trials: each one is slightly different, but there's like 6 or 8 different monk trials so 30 or 40 'new' maps seemed like a bit much. I'll play with it this weekend as well on my custom mapstyles and see if a single one would work. I'll try and get a count of how many of them there are as well.

Since they would not use additional graphics the impact on resource usage on both the client or Dolby's server would be minimal even adding 40 of those maps, I wouldn't mind. I'd probably skip a detailed listing on a news post though.
On the other hand if there's not many POIs in there (I frankly cannot remember, it has been too long) it may be easier to go with one map and just prefix the POIs with the trial they are for.

Yeah I wasn't worried about bandwith so much since it's the same map, more your second point. But I guess even then if we still split 'em up we can just go with really detailed POIs (like where every single vase and such is).

I'll leave the monk stuff to you guys. Will be running through those eventually, just they are a bit lower on the list of things to do.
Once this quest pops back up again, I will test it out for you and can resubmit the POIs through the interface then. They are all for the same thing, a relic needing to be rescued before it kicks your butt, except for the last POI which is the exit to the zone. I listed that since on a few discussions for the quest there were questions as to how to leave the zone once you had completed it.
Let me know if I need to download/install anything to do the new POI submissions or if it will be bundled with the normal map updates.
