First off, Happy Anniversary!! It's been a wonderful modification and I encourage all my friends to use it. For that, I thank you.

I would like to request an update that the window "remember" where I was scrolled down to last when I minimize and then re-open.

Much of the quest information that I use requires a good amount of scrolling down to find which step I am on and if I leave it scrolled down, then minimize, then re-open the text is positioned back to the top...causing me to then scroll again.

Often I am reading this while I am running...and scrolling has caused me a few kamikazees off cliffs.

I agree that would be an absolutely wonderful thing. And if and when it becomes possible to do so, I'll be sure to make the Info Center act that way.

(Unfortunately, the behavior in question isn't something that can be modified.)

Since the window *is* appearing, but the text files aren't, the problem is actually most likely that the data files are in the wrong place. You'd probably be better off asking for help in the eliteui discussion thread though, rather than here, since I'm not sure exactly how the window has been incorporated into eliteui, or in what ways it might have been modified.

I'm having trouble with this mod. Here's what I did..

First I opened the zip.. then took the eq2ui_mainhud_infocenter.xml file and put it in MYMODS

Then I created a folder called infocenter inside MYMODSand put everything else in there

Then I copied the eq2ui_mainhud.xml into MYMODS and opened it in notepad and added <include>eq2ui_mainhud_infocenter.xml</include> saved it

I get the window, the tabs, but only the "social" tab has any info.

Default Request

Truely amazing work as always Darryl!

I have a request if at all possible...

Could you place the infocenter as an object within the journal xml rather than mainhud perhaps?

Reason I ask is so many modders place thier add-on mods within the mainhud and I hate to have anything I offer possibly overwrite what they've done or perhaps require the user to manually edit xml in order to get the mod to work.

I've never seen an update to the main eq2ui_journals.xml and thought It an excellent place for such an item.
------
Also, I was thinking the "notes" could be provided within their own window as well so any updates to the infocenter would be contained within and not affect the notes xml if needed.

For example:
eq2ui_journals_InfoCenter.xml
eq2ui_journals_notes.xml

It's great to have you back modding that's for sure!!!

You shouldn't have created any folder; you should just have moved the "infocenter" folder directly from the zip into your "MYMODS" folder. If, when you unzipped it, you didn't have such a folder (and its various subfolders), then you need to redownload the mod, as your unzip program messed things up.

Default Color in *.txt Files

Hi there!

Let me start by saying I think InfoCenter is great! Thanks so very much!

I have two quick (and hopefully painless) questions.

1. Is there a way that certain words can have color/highights in the text files?

2. Is there a way I can skin this with the Fetish Nightfall?

Any help/info would be appreciated.

Again, thanks again for sharing InfoCenter with us!

I'm not really sure. The text files are "included" as contents of <TEXT> containers in the XML files. So any formatting commands that could normally be used as part of a text string within a <TEXT> container ought to work fine. But I've not actually tested it.

I don't know of anything that would stop you.

Default Another Update

In the wake of LU19, the Info Center's been updated again.

First, you'll find that it now includes the full Live Update 19 patch notes, as well as a history file containing the "headline" info from previous LUs. While I have no desire to try to maintain a full patch history in the Info Center, it occurred to me that being able to easily reference the notes from the latest "huge change" while in the game could be handy.

I've revised the spell list page to reflect the new "direct to subclass" character progression, with a single spell list for each subclass, showing spells (or songs or combat arts) all the way from level 1 to level 60. However, the spell lists themselves have *not* been updated yet, and still show the old (generic) spells for levels 1-19; updating the lists will have to come later.

I've also begun updating the harvesting and cookbook info to reflect the new "no subcombines" tradeskilling system that's been implemented for tiers 1 and 2, and which will soon be implemented for other tiers, as well.

Hey, maybe you've already tried this or maybe not, but I was thinking that you could implement a page that shows the current patch notes from the patch notes web page:

http://patch.everquest2.com:7010/pat...ates_live.html

Can the web browser be launched with a URL? This is the page that comes up from the launch pad when you press the Update Notes button. Anyway, keep up the good work!

FYI, I've come to the conclusion that custom windows have issues accepting any script commands when closed (other than show_window). I'll be exploring work arounds for this soon, but it came up when intigrating InfoCenter into various help icons that activate the related InfoCenter tab.

I'm sorry, but unfortunately, I know nothing about any of the non-English clients. I've no idea why the German client won't allow inclusion of larger text files as the English one does, and so far as I know, I don't even have access to the files to try to figure it out. (Not that I'd likely know what to look for, anyway.)

Exclamation help

====================Nevermind======================
I got it to work.
================================================

I am trying to use your wonderful Info Center but can not get it to work.
This is what I have done:
Unzipped the files into my custom ui directory "myui"

edited the eq2.ini to cl_ui_skinname myui
cl_ui_subdir UI/

Loaded the game and it won't so anything but the default stuff.
I have tried the /show_window Journal.InfoCenter but that does nothing. I am kind of new at putting separate pieces of ui into the game. I may not be understanding the whole process of this. Can you help me? Please!?!

I so want to use this Info Center because I know you put a lot of effort into it. If I was on Permafrost I would donate.

Thanks,
Drgnldy

I have also tried puting into the Eq2map ui and still nothing.

I was curious why the eq2ui_journals.xml had these 2 includes:
<include>eq2ui_journals_coinweight.xml</include>
<include>eq2ui_journals_nightvision.xml</include>

They cause ui.log errors. Easy enough to remove and fix but I was just wondering if they were part of another mod you're working on?

edit: well, I found your alternate coinweight one, but no nightvision.

The 'nightvision' entry is just for a button I use to toggle the 'nightvision' feature found in some (most?) of the start button mods around here.

I hate the cluttered start buttons myself; most of the features are either things I don't need -- I seldom have any reason to worry about adjusting the volume or changing display settings, for example -- or things I can easily set up as macros. The 'nightvision' toggle is the one exception. Because it uses different commands to turn the display on or off, it can't be set up as a single 'toggle' macro. But it can be quite handy. So I created a simple 'nightvision' button.

It never really seemed the sort of thing that was worth making publicly available, though.

As far as the errors are concerned, well, to be honest, I didn't realize the presence of those lines *did* generate errors if the referenced files didn't exist. But there's no effect on gameplay, so I'm not inclined to worry about it. It's easier just to have one version of the eq2_journals.xml file, whether one, two or all three mods are actually in use.

Yeah, I knew it was no big deal and understood about the unified journals file. I was just curious what the nightvision one was. I completely agree about the cluttered startbutton mods. I don't run one because all I care about is the nightvision, so I just have to use 2 separate macros to turn it on and off. Shame we can't do smart, toggle macros.

Another update, with T7 spells and some KoS collections info, is now available.

More updates....

I finally updated the L&L book locations list, so it tells you where to find the DoF and KoS L&L books.

I added walk-thrus for "A Calling in the Forest" and "Operation Green Hood" (the Nektropos Castle and Deathfist Citadel access quests, respectively), and for the "Everling Lockets" quest.

I updated the carnivorous house plant notes. (Thanks to Niami Denmother's write-up over at eq2.eqtraders.com for the info!)

I replaced the social command text buttons with real buttons.

Finally, I updated various XML files at Zonx's request to make reskinning the Info Center easier. First, the frames around the button stack and the text area are now defined just once, in the main file, rather than in each tab's subfile. Second, the buttons and scrollbars now reference styles defined in the main file, rather than referencing the default styles. This should make it possible to reskin the Info Center without touching any file other than eq2ui_journals_infocenter.xml.

Smile Stiletto's HQ

Hi,

Just wanted to let ye know. I completed Stiletto's HQ on 060427 and the info you have for the ingredients to creating the shrowd of the manastone is incorrect.

your listing ---->
"After scribing the recipe you must create the shroud of the manastone with an Etched Hide Plate + Glimmering Tooth + Enchanted Linen of the Weavemaster + fuel. You can harvest the Glimmering Tooth from animal dens in Zek and Enchanted Lands. You must be artisan level 9 to create this item".
<----

You do not need an etched hide plate. You need a sullied medium quality badger pelt.

Just to let ye know.

Heppy 54 conj
btw.. I love this info center.. great work and great job...

While I don't want to overload the Info Center with *too* many quest walk-thrus, I certainly have no objection to adding walk-thrus for a few more especially important and/or involved quests. But remember that the highest-level character played by any member of my household is currently just 48. So I'm not personally familiar with most of the game's high-end content.

So, that having been said....

I assume the "Hoo'loo Hat Quest" is the quest that gets you your level 70 class-specific hat. But, well, it might be nice to know the actual name of the quest, if I'm to find a walk-thru at OGaming. :P
