EQ2MAP not working? or do I expect something else?

I just got into EQ2, got told to try EQ2 map.

I got the latest EXE version that auto updates.

It downloaded and updated it all and ran EQ2, yet pushing M key for MAP its no diffrent

What does this EQ2Map do, has it worked for me?

I had the problem of the maps uploading to the wrong directory. I had to change the directory that EQ Maps put them to my custom UI directory. That may be your trouble.

Where should they be getting put too?

Under options in the auto updater there is an area for UI directory. My custom UI directory is called "MAPS", so I had to change the UI directory to "MAPS". Hope this helps. By the way, if you are looking for something radically different from the standard maps, you will be disappointed. This is an auto updater, not a bunch of fancy new maps.

Try run the updater again, sometimes the updater fails to get it right the first time.
If you don't have any other mods installed then the UI should be EQ2MAP.
