Same error, time and time again

Not really sure why I am getting this error. I tried re-downloading the files as well but with no luck.

I must say, when I look at the map in game, what should be dots and me as an arrow only show up as ugly squares displaying graphic anomalies.

I hope this one wasn't covered, thus my post being deleted as I'm sure there is a simple solution.
I would like to use the map, and I will check back until I see a response or till my post is gone.

But for now, I'm done with this. I just want to play the game

You could try downloading the manual install version I suppose.
