Default problem ZONING

it is now taking me over 5 minutes to zone... no matter what zone i try to go to .. i have to sit and peck and peck the keyboard to even make it begin to zone.. and even that don't always work ... i reboot computer, and it still is the same thing..
im running primarily fetish ui with a couple add ons ...
and i do not think it's the ui... because this happens even if i use default ..
any ideas ?

Post your system specs. I've always taken forever to zone, but that's what I get with 512 ram. =p

RAM is a MAJOR factor in zone time. Less RAM = longer zone times.

Wife runs XP with 512 RAM and it takes her 2-3x longer to zone than me with 768 RAM and we're on the same connection. Her processor is even faster (by alot) than mine, so its all about the RAM.

Your connection speed is also a factor, but less so than RAM. Most of the zone resources are loaded off disk.

BTW, you'll crash less with more RAM. 1 gig is recomended, more is better.

Another little tip... right-click "My Computer" and select Properties. From the Advanced tab, click "Performance Options" then "Change" and set the initial and maximum page size amount to whatever is listed as "Recommended". Should free up some system resources.

You should also close ANY un-needed apps and services, especially IE and IIS.

Last but not least, run adware/spyware and virus scans regularly. They often rob you of RAM, and at 512 you'll need it all for EQ2.

Where are you hanging at? The hang at loading ui resources bug is back and every one I know of is suffering from it. We lose 1/3 of the raid when we zone into an instance or 1 or 2 two people from a exp group always hangs there. We have started takeing bets on who will have to exit eq next lol..
