Yes.
If you mouse over the POI, it will have a little notation like (QST), (NAME), (MOB), or (NPC).

Although I don't recall the exact mapping of colors to types, you'll learn it pretty quick just by looking. Note that the colors on the Web based map don't match the colors in-game.
