sounds like maybe you accidentally did the keystroke shortcut to hide it. I dont remember what it is offhand, but that is what i am thinking. next time this happens either perform the shortcut command (whatever it is) or type
/show_window MainHUD.StartMenu That should bring it up for yu to see.
