Memeory problems - RAM usage

when i am using EQ i find that my memory usage spikes up as far ar 1,8 1.9 amost of my 2 gig ram ...what can I do to lower the memory usage as it really slows my Pc so much that of late i have been so annoyed with EQ that i am on verge of loosing interest using it and considereing trying another game can any one help to suggest a way to fix what is chewing up available ram thank you
