Default Fake links

Well. In eq1 was possible to make fake links. For example most of tank's use the thing, that incoming target was a *link.
Can any1 spare , how to do it in eq2?
And Yes, its possible in eq2.

Have you seen someone do this firsthand? Because here's the problem:
Macros are stored in your characters file on the server.
The only way to edit macros is in-game (no file to edit out of game).
You can't force an item link into the macro window.

What this means is you'd have to edit EQ2's active memory and force the item link format (with %T for target) into a macro window edit box. This is against the EULA (aka if a GM found out you had to edit your macro this way, you could get suspended or banned).

If you haven't seen someone do this firthand, it's probably because it can't be done; if you have actually seen someone do this (I haven't) they're likely doing something that's against the rules to make it happen.

It was just a number hash, followed by a name, creating the fake link. But obviously someone doesn't just come up with a random number hash

Anyhow, we can all sleep soundly, even without "fake links". Really, I assure you

I've had EQ1 items linked to me from EQ1 to EQ2, they come through as code, not as a link. Does it work the other way around?

I know I've sent colored text to EQ1, and they just see the code for it.

Actually, that's a bug that happens when you link a stack of items. I do believe you are incorrect in the matter of it being possible to make a section of text look like a link in EQ2.

Cool

Making colored chat text in EQ2 is easy:

1. You type your sentence out like this:
/gsay #FF0099Do #660033you #006666want #000066colored #FFFF66text?

2. Now go back and and add a backslash (\) before the last pound symbol (#). As soon as you type the \ before #FFFF66text? , the #FFFF66 will disappear, and the word text will turn yellow. Work your way backwards through the sentence adding backslashes before pound symbols. This works for links as well.

You can create any links in game. It can be "real" link of item, with any name.. like... "ebon cluster", you click on this link and there is really picture of ebon cluster, or, "Lalala" - looks like link and when you click it, there will be picture of ebon cluster. It can just "look" like link with any random text, but when you click on it, no picture appears. However it doesnt work with ingame macro, at least I didnt find yet how to make it work. So there is no point to use it in EQ2 other than fun. (For "INC message" macros its really better to use different colors codes, it works with ingame macros).

About links.. there is item's code (number) + item's name and name to display (in chat), if you want your link to work as "link" item's code has to match to item's name, however dispay name could be any.

And finally... *how* to get these codes of items?
Hint - someone mentioned EQIM for EQ1.

P.S.
In eq2 its MUCH easier than in eq1... way less characters to enter.

Yup, you can see codes in log file, also you can see them in "guild chat" on eq2players site.
