Going over to WoW....
Well, i almost certain i will be heading over to WoW, there is just so much more you can do with the ui than eq2, i was more just curious if there were any authors here that do WoW as well as EQ2. For those of you that are wondering i will definately still be around the eq2interface forums, things actually probably wont change much at all since i havent played eq2 now for quite a few months. Anyway back to the point, who here works on mods for EQ2 and WoW?

Personally, I think you'll be disappointed at the gameplay over on WoW.. I played it from the day it was released to the European market, and did a fair share of modding too.. Modding there is awesome, everything being lua regulated. You can do almost everything as long as it isn't botting.
But the community.. I'll do a comparison:
EQ2:
Me: 27 Mystic looking for a quest group in temple of Varsoon!
Reply x5: Sure thing! Meet us at the entrance? [Invited]
WoW:
Me: 27 Hunter looking for a questgroup in Thousand Needles!
Reply x5: Lol! Noob! Only 27!!11
I hope I didn't step on any toes there, but the average age on the players in WoW do feel like 12 sometimes .
Anyhow, I hope you'll like the UI modding over there and that you come back to EQ2 again in a bit. At least I know I did

I have played Eq2 since beta . I also go to WOW. Im tired of SOE and there intention of ruin this game.
Is there a free trial of WOW somewhere to get and try the game for a free period?

To each their own. Many people enjoy EQ2. Many enjoy WoW. Many like neither. Diversity is a wonderful thing.
Taco, I'll expect to see you on the WoWI boards, yes?

Have fun taco-man
IMO you're going to the darkside, but that's ok
Sometimes my interpretation of EQ2 is that they listen to the players, and then still get complaints. And then it kind of seemed like EQ1 they didn't listen to the players, and got some complaints. Love both games. You gotta play what YOU like to play, not what others think you should play. If it's solely for modding purposes, seems like WoW has more of a UI experience to offer.

I'll admit, the people in WoW can be immature sometimes. Here's my experience:
WoW OOC:
Me: Hey, sup'?
Player1: Nothin, lol.
Player2: I'm bored out of my ass over here.
Player3: Har, chatting is fun.
EQ2 OOC:
Me: Hey sup'?
Player1: ARRRG, YOU'RE SPAMMING THE CHAT CHANNEL PLAY THE GAME QUIETLY.
Player2: I HATE YOU ALL, YOU'RE ALL IDIOTS.
Player3: I cut myself because it makes me feel better.

WOW and EQ2 are twins, I have a lvl 60 Rogue on WOW, so when I started to play EQ2 I had to make sure I was in the right game. Just a few of the similarites:
flying Griiffs
crafting
Char similarites
Horse riding
WOW even has a city called Ironforge (I wonder where that came from)
Quest up the kazoo
Guilds
the need for large groups to do instances
and the list goes on and on, I see no difference between the two except for the graphics and animation is better in WOW
Just my opinion

I agree i see many similarites as well .. i played eq 1 for 6 years .. beta tested eq 2 and wow .. played wow since release .. now trying eq2 dont see many diffrences at all ... i do like some stuff better in wow and some stuff better in eq2 but it was very easy to go from one game to the other since they are soooo similiar in game play i love the "characters" in eq 2 but love the graphics in wow ... ( hate being a fat cow in wow horde druid lol )
and yes he definatly has those chats mixed up .. wow is all about drama on the chat channels and now that they made looking for group a worldwide chat channel its constant drama on the wrong channel

So I guess almost all mmorpgs are twins by that comparison.
Anyway, I have a level 60 druid and hunter in wow. Raided with my druid (everything up to naxx), and mostly soloed with the hunter to get mats I needed.
At least on my server it was mostly young and immature, so I decided to try eq2. love it so far.
Only thing I like better in wow was the addons. so much you can add to the game. Crafting in wow isn't anything like eq. Much simpler and less items you can make.
Have fun, and go horde
