Changing default map view
Is there a way to configure EQ2Map to come up with only the default icons, like it does in the standard game; in other words, to see the PoIs, mobs, etc. you have to explicitly check them in the options?
Personally I find it kind of distracting to open a map and just see a mass of dots everwhere, and every time I zone I have to reset my options. If this were configurable somehow, it'd be great.

The original poster wasn't looking for a method of turning off the POIs. They already had that. What they wanted was for the POIs to start off hidden by default, and only display when they turned them on.

This would be so cool. Is there a way to configure eq2maps so that it only shows the EQ2 standard view by default? Please let me know...

I have found that when you enter a zone, set the icons that you want visiable. Now every time you enter that particular zone only those icons will be visable. You will need to do this with each zone but so far it's been working for me.

Soon as I get a chance I'll see about making a customizable plugin for this. If the current version of the plugin system is setup properly, this should be fairly easy.
We were reworking the plugin system at one point, not sure what code was actually implemented on the live server. The relatively new POI filtering may not be setup to work well with plugins.

The filter as it is on live only turns on and the POI categories. It doesn't interface with the plug-in system, unless code got changed and wasn't posted on the team forum.
One could write a plug-in that would turn off all but the default POI categories on the startup event pretty easy though.

Oh, very nice! I was trying to see if I could do this too. I'd say more than half the time I don't want to see all the extra POIs so I have to turn them off every time I zone.

Ah yes, such a plugin would be nice indeed. I mainly use EQ2map for the maps, I don't really care about the POIs most of the time.

Yah should be easy to use the onshow plugin event to uncheck whatever... the possible gotcha is if the script that initiallizes the Filter is triggered after the plugin events fire. Thats the thing I'm not sure about off hand. Have to look at the code.
