Error downloading file: DATABASE
Ok i read the descriptions and searched the forums like 5 times and apparently no one has had this error, or i am stupid and cant seem to find it. So if some one could help me out it would be great. I have installed both EQ2 map autoloader and the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0, I have redone this like 5 times and still havent been able to fix my issue. the Updater starts up and i get the following
Checking Database
Failed to download Database
Error downloading File:
DATABASE
The operation has timed out
Retry
Failed to download Database
Error downloading File:
DATABASE
The operation has timed out
No Updated Files
No New Files
I have try this multiple times and still cant get anything to work, no kick butt maps with quest info when i play. My real life freind told me about the site and everything he also has it running so i asked him to stop bye and see whats going on, however he couldnt figue out whats going on as well. I thought ok im timing out so I disabled every fire wall i have and tryed it again. still no luck, my internet says its up and running fine. no fire walls ativated. I am running windows XP media center Edition version 2002 with service pack 3. I read somehthing about windows xp 64 but not sure if it pertains to me or not, or how to verify that. Im not great with computers normaly i know just enough to get my machine to do what i want it do, but thus far when it comes to EQ-2 MAPs i have failed, and would really appreciate some help

Sounds like your firewall may be preventing the eq2map from connecting to the internet.

The timout time is 15s instead of 60s, do you think its to short for your internet connection?

is that a joke? I'm not saying that the problem is on you side I understand theirs thousands of people that can connect. I am simply looking for advice on what the issue could be on my side of things. as i have said I unpluged my wireless router so im now direct feed though a cable modem (router has a firewall built in), I disabled windows fire wall and McAfee fire wall, not sure what else to try. I thought about anti virus stuff but i dont think that would stop me from connecting.

If you did it in that order then Windows Firewall likely auto-reactivated itself. Better double check.

well, i have quite same problem
after one (unsual long) try to connect to DB it updates in a second run
i never really mattered bout that then
but its still annoying bc u always have to click that "there was an error..." thingy away
well, maybe this helps:
1.0.18 Unknown Thread Error: System
bei System.Diagnostics.Process.StartWithShellExecuteEx(ProcessStartInfo startInfo)
bei System.Diagnostics.Process.Start()
bei System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(ProcessStartInfo startInfo)
bei EQ2MAPUpdater.EQ2mapErrors.LinkLabel1_LinkClicked(Object sender, LinkLabelLinkClickedEventArgs e)
bei System.Windows.Forms.LinkLabel.OnLinkClicked(LinkLabelLinkClickedEventArgs e)
bei System.Windows.Forms.LinkLabel.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs e)
bei System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks)
bei System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m)
bei System.Windows.Forms.Label.WndProc(Message& m)
bei System.Windows.Forms.LinkLabel.WndProc(Message& msg)
bei System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m)
bei System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
bei System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)Zugriff verweigert
i'm sorry for this being partly german, cant help that :-/ ask if anything is not clear
last part "Zugriff verweigert" means access denied
yes i deactivated virus/FW/windows FW things ... but doesnt help that, and its the only framework-based tool i encounter suchs problems...so i sense there sth within the code maybe :-/

As I already mentioned to jnils recently I always get this if I uncheck the option to update on open. I do however not get your error message, but can't hurt to try toggling this option.

tried and unchecked that option
the error still stays the same
but i noticed, the webpage-frame within the updatewindow appears fast then, with checked option it appears later on the second run (after about 15 secs)
dunno if that has sth to do with it

Hi,
i updated today from 1.0.17 to 1.1.1 and i have the same problems:
Checking Database
Failed to download Database
Error downloading File:
file_list.xml
Timeout für Vorgang überschritten
Retry
Failed to download Database
Error downloading File:
file_list.xml
Timeout für Vorgang überschritten
No Updated Files
No New Files
The machine is Vista64, no firewall activated/installed, antivirus disabled, User Account Control also deactivated and i start with admin rights
If i start mapUpdater, it says: checking database (it takes a long time ~ 20secs) then he sayed: failed to download ...
The version 1.0.17 taked also this time, ("no response"), the window couldnt be moved in this time but after that the "old version" worked.
Other machines behind the router works fine (1x winXP, 1x Vista32)
anybody ideas?
Alex

Have you tryed to run it as Administrator ?
There is something that prevents the program from connecting to the net.

It seems like the most that has problem with connection uses vista64, but i don't know why
If it download old files you can clear the cache from options.

If you can't get it working you can always use EQ2 Henchman to just update your EQ2MAP.
