Description
[DrumsUI] Full Interface
Game Update #66

** Updater version **: here

Description:
After several years of EQ2 UI modding, individual releases, and user requests, the DrumsUI is finally released as a full UI download. The DrumsUI's purpose is to add features to the standard interface windows while also saving screen space and eliminating unnecessary extras. This UI started out as personal modifications and has slowly evolved into user requested ideas as well as features combined with existing ideas.

The DrumsUI includes several settings (Self Cure window, Stat bar Window, Group/Raid Quick casts and cures) that are set up to be customizable from in-game and save both between sessions and different characters. When you first use the DrumsUI pieces, the default settings will be selected.

*Note: Included are some slightly edited map icons (originally created by gurkoz) and the skinnable map POI file.
View this topic on how to revert to default icons!:

http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/s...ad.php?p=92843

  • Note: The InfoCenter is fully compatible with the DrumsUI. However, it is not included in this zip!

Installation Notes:
- How To: Install A Custom UI
- eq2.ini goes in your EverQuest 2 Installation folder.
- DrumsUI folder goes in your EverQuest 2/UI/ folder.

UNINSTALL YOUR OLD VERSION FIRST!
It's not likely to cause issues, but some files have changed and some have been removed!
But save these files to backup your Quick Button settings, Item Notes, and Spell Timers:
- /POI/drumsui_textsettings.xml
- /POI/drumsui_itemnotes.xml
- /POI/drumsui_spelltimer.xml

Extra Notes:
- See the "Alternatives" folder in the DrumsUI folder to access some window variations. (eg. Tiny Group, Group with pet bars, Right-sided maintained, bottom-aligned voice chat, etc.)

- Copy and rename any of the below to use a supplied layout:
* DrumsUI_1280x1024_layout.xml
* DrumsUI_1440x900_layout.xml
* DrumsUI_1680x1050_layout.xml

To: serverName_characterName_eq2_uisettings.xml (ie: Blackburrow_Drumstixx_eq2_uisettings.xml)
Remember that the supplied UIsettings file won't have all your chat settings configured, so be sure to re-configure your options!

Thanks so much for this beautiful UI.
A stat bar update is longer overdue. I believe XP values are already an option though.

You can choose which quests show in the Quest window with the checkboxes. I'll look into the tooltip and a possible minimize button, but I feel the checkboxes are sufficient for what you want.

As for the chat input, I'm not sure there is a way to scale this based on Chat Font size, but I will also look into it.

Chat window

Besides my questions about the quest tracker, I have this one about the chat window.

I use a 23" widescreen at 1920x1060 resolution. It makes the chat font really tiny for me and my poor old eyes. I increased the chat font size and all is good there but the chat edit line - where we actually type our messages on - that's still tiny for me.

Is there a way to change that in game or is this something you could add if you had the time? I couldn't find anything in game to change that.

Thank you Drumstix42.

Quest Tracker

I noticed that the quest tracker is different after installing your UI.

With the default UI I used to get mouse-over tooltips giving me a brief rundown of the quest; it doesn't do that any more with your UI installed. Did you turn that off as part of your design?

A question about the quest tracker in general, whether it involves your UI or not - I was wondering is there a way to collapse quests to "quest title" only so that you don't see all the miscellaneous steps below it until I am ready to do that quest? It's making me have to scroll the quest tracker a lot to find the quest I am actually working on.

Again I know this may not have to do with your UI at all, just as a new player I was wondering if that was ever an option for us.

Those are just sample layouts I provided that was similar to an older screenshot setup included. They're out-dated.

I'm not sure why you're having trouble with the statbar at the top.

I used to try to auto-hide it, but it was hit or miss, and some people didn't like it. The window is hard-coded by SOE basically, and is limited in how you hide it.

New player here and I started off with your user interface. I had a question and a couple of comments.

My question is about the download. I got the UI installed okay and all seems well that I can see. I was wondering about those three layout.xml files you included. Where were those supposed to be placed and were we supposed to be able to choose one of those presets somehow?

I wasn't able to figure that out so I had to just move everything myself in game.

Comments:

1. That long "stats" bar of two rows - I wanted that at the top of my monitor but it seems that if it's at the top then the "menu" button is un-clickable unless I move it down about 1/2 an inch. I ended up putting it at the bottom of my screen.

2. Again with the "stats bar" - that font size is really tiny for my poor eyes and widescreen monitor. Any chance we can increase the font size via in-game ui settings?

3. The chat window "toggle chat shadow/text shadow" doesn't seem to save between sessions. EDIT: This saved after the second time I logged out. I guess it's okay now.

I forgot my other questions/comments so I'll just come back later if I can think of them.

Thanks for the UI.
1. Make sure there isn't another window blocking the stat bar, I use mine all the way at the top.

2. Not feasibly because ALL the elements are sized manually.

Try opening your character's .XML file in your main EQ2 directory (servername_charname_eq2_uisettings.xml) with notepad and look for the line that starts with:
<Window Name="Player"

Delete that entire line and start the game up. Position your Player window as needed. Camp out and back in and see what happens.
