Default Just a guess...

I'm just guessing here, but from what I've read on the forums, I would say that the ice cube in the middle represents the type of HO that will come if the other 3 items are completed?!?...As for the penny and the hammer, I'm assuming that they are archetype specific attacks possibly. From what I've heard, if you have the ability to complete one of the steps in the HO, it flashes..I'm unsure, but that's what I've read.

Sorry I couldn't help more, but I figured I throw my 2 cents in.

If what i read I understood correctly..

The hammer is there for group members to continue the chain

The "green penny" is a "switch" it allows you to change the effect. though to be fair, I am not for sure how it works.

What I do is this.. "Start your HO".. then follow the blinking icons..

I do the same Kudane, haha.

I havn't got the penny to do anything though, my spells come up in a larger circular arrangement with the spell i have to cast at the topand the other spell holes blank, the penny appears at about 4 'o clock and it has had no effect for me so far.

And yes I think the funny icon is for group to continue the chain or something, but i havn't really worked it all out yet either.

You guys got it all wrong. :P

Okay, first, this is part of the Starter Chain, not the HO Wheel.

The red cube thing in the center indicates the last step you did in the starter chain.

If anyone in the group uses any ability matching any of those three icons, it will advance to the next step in the chain of that icon. In most cases this then brings up the Wheel stage immediately, but sometimes there are three-step starter chains so you'll get another one of those screens.

No, you shouldn't be able to do all of these. Each archetype has one starter chain that they can complete solo, and then some chains that are completed with a group. (In your case, two: The Hammer is for Priests, the coin is for Scouts.)

Once the wheel is up, you continue to follow the icons. If all of the Starter Chain actions were done by the same archetype, then the final wheel will be one final step by that archetype. If the chain used two or three archetypes, then the wheel will need group participation to complete.

Now, as for the coin. If the Wheel comes up, and the coin icon is present, THEN the scout can use any of his Coin abilities to change the effect that results when the chain is completed.

Hope I didn't confuse you guys even more. :P

Examine the skill and you'll see the cube. The Scout starter is a green "Lock" symbol, which makes an equally low amount of sense, but that's just how it is.
