Default error - unable to connect to server

I downloaded the eq2 map updater. Received an error message - there was a error getting the latest version info: Unable to connect to the remote server.
Eq2 map updater will not update. I set to run as administrator, I created a new folder like the instructions said to do, I tried to fix the path under options, but still does not connect. I am using windows 7. I have deleted and re-downloaded eq2 map updater also.
Any help for a computer noob, greatly appreciated. Please make explanation simple, since I dont know much about computer language. thanks

Remote server is the update server not a path on your computer. Its possible you have a firewall blocking access to it. I also noticed another post with the same issue so sounds like your firewall is blocking or the remote path isn't allowed from your isp maybe an outage where you are at?
