Experience Bar Resizing

I have searched/read every post and FAQ entry I can find, but I still have no idea how to change the size of the experience bar. The bottom half of the bar on my screen is truncated. I have tried changing values in the 'eq2ui_mainhud_experience.xml' file but I do not notice any changes....i'm sure I am doing it incorrectly.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.
