Default Tooltips not displaying text

Hello,

Since the update the new tooltips are not displaying any text. They display the bullet points as well as the icons for the combat arts and spells, but not the text. Anyone have any ideas where I should be looking to fix this?

Thanks,

Sagdalon

its most probably the custom inventory, I had the same problem, deleted the custom bags and repatched the inventory files - now tooltips are fine.

Too bad though, I really liked my custom bags...

give the authors a few days to update everything, theres so many changes and they usually have more than 1 interface to update so it takes a while.

To get my tooltip text to show, I had to stop using a maintained spell mod that I was using that came with a eq2_uifonts.xml file. Once I deleted that, the tooltips worked again, but the mod didn't work anymore

This is caused by using a custom eq2ui_fonts file. You'll need to add the lines to your custom version that were added to the default one as shown on the compare page.

I don't have a custom fonts file, yet I am getting an incompatible tooltips message. Any idea where this is set? I don't have a complete set, but various custom pieces.

All right, I answered my own question. In my case, it was the examine window that was part of the Fetish Market window. Apparently, this window is used for certain tooltips as well. It didn't break the Fetish Market, though I'm sure some features were lost. Not as lost as I was without my tooltips - dang spell icons look too similar.

This is the change listed on the Compare screen for the Fonts XML file. If this is cut and pasted into your modded Fonts File will it fix the tooltip problem?

<TextStyle Algorithm="Simple" FontName="Zapf Calligraphic 801 Bold BT" Language="english" Name="Font_Tooltip" PointSize="15" PrivateFontPath="UI/Fonts/zcal801b.TTF" UseCachedFont="true"/>

Yes, add that line to your custom fonts.xml file that is in your custom UI directory.

Then the tooltips will have text.

My problem was that I wasn't getting any tooltips on any windows.
I was using the Depechenode examine window mod so I just renamed the eq2ui_examine.xml and player_bg1.dds files with a bogus extension and tooltips show on all windows now.

I have an update to my examine windows I will upload later today.

Once you install my newer version and add the line as stated above in this thread to the fonts.xml, your Examine mod will WORK.

Please allow me till 5pm CDT to upload my mod update.

I was fine with ThorUI, had tooltipps missing, and confirm, that
1) adding the line to custom fonts.xml file didn't work
2) renaming eq2ui_examine.xml did work

Thanks a lot everybody who works on the mods, on german servers many seem to be afraid to download and install anything not Sony-Ware, but: Your UIs are just great !

PS: I now have problems with chat-windows unmoveable and unresizeable, but I hope I'll work this out soon

Hmm I added that line but my tooltips still aren't displaying. I would really like to keep the UI I use now. I tried couple newer ones that are updated but I didn't like them as much. I use Fetish Hotbars & 3/4 Bags By Ger.

If anyone could help on what to do it would be great.

The Tooltip (font stuff) line is to be added to the EQ2UI_EQ2UI.Fonts.xml in YOUR custom directory. Make sure that is where you added and save the file. Restart EQ2.

The Examine window mod MUST then be modified to INCLUDE the New Tooltips page file. I already did that to MY Examine UI mod that you can Download here.

The broken tooltips has NOTHING to do with the Bags or Market mods that anyone else made/uses.

The file is dependent stricly on Fonts.xml and examine.xml.

If you know how to use UIBuilder, you can fix the Examine.xml in YOUR custom diretory fairly easily.

Copy the DEFAULT EQ2UI_Examine.xml to the UIBuilder Default directory. Rename to EQ2UI_ExamineSOE.xml
Now, go into THAT directory under UIBuilder and EDIT the EQ2UI_Mainhud.xml. Look for the line <include>EQ2UI.Examine.xml</include>

COPY that line and PASTE it RIGHT below the line you copied. NOW change that line to read <include>EQ2UI.ExamineSOE.xml</include>

Next, go to YOUR custom UI file directory and COPY the EQ2UI_Examine.xml to the UIBuilder DEFAULT directory.

RUN UIBuilder.

Open the MAINHUD tab on the RIGHT screen (the big black screen).
Then, on the left screen Click on the EXAMINSOE and notice there is a TOOLTIP page. COPY that page and PASTE it into the EXAMINE page right above/below the EXAMINESOE. I say above or below, depends on where you listed it on the MAINHUD.XML you edited.

Now SAVE everything.
Exit, UIBUilder, and go BACK to the UIBuilder DEFAULT directory. Look for the newer EQ2UI_EXAMINE.XML

Copy that file and paste it into YOUR custom UI directory. If you edited the fonts already to include the Tooltip line as stated in the start of this thread, you should BE GOOD TO GO with ANY Bag/Market, etc window you have.

Restart EQ2, good luck
