Shade2074, get the newest version of FetishNightfall, that should solve your problem.

utef, it sounds like you downloaded the traditional ZIP file version of EQ2MAP which I had forgotten to update after they added groupmembers to the map. Redownload it and your problem should be fixed. You can get the auto-updater for EQ2MAP here: http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=3509

Default EQ2MAP Updating but in diff locations..still not working

Still having issues getting maps to show/load.

So I've re-installed .NET framework, re-installed EQ2Maps updater - Using c:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest II as dir

EQ2Map Updater runs okay with no error messages and downloads all the maps how ever instead of locating the files in the directory above it puts them in the following..

c:\images\iocns
c:\images\maps
c:\eq2map
and eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml is located on root of c:\

I have tried to use the "C:\Program Files\EQ2MAP Updater\EQ2MAP_Updater.exe /seteq2dir" switch but get errors "windows cant find etc...."

Ive reloaded EQ2 on a different machine and all works without any problems, maps are in correct location and all maps work within game.

Just for a test I copied the EQ2MAPS directory (in EQ2\UI folder) from this machine to machine having problesm ..but this did not work either.

*added bit*

I added the cl_ui_skinname EQ2MAP & cl_ui_subdir UI/ to the eq2.ini file (this was not updated for some reason on install) and hey presto .. all maps working now

BUT .... the autoupdater is still installing maps in the the dir's listed above and not in the EQ2 dir (so for a work around im updating on other machine and copying the dir acrross each time).

*end added bit*

Thanks.

dont put the /seteq2dir inside the quotes, it should be outside so like this:
"C:\Program Files\EQ2MAP Updater\EQ2MAP_Updater.exe" /seteq2dir
you can also try deleting the .cfg file in C:\Program Files\EQ2MAP Updater\

I am experiencing exactly the same problem. EQ2Mapupdater just install the dirs and files in the root dir of his installation path (for example c:\ if I chose C:\program files\...or d:\ if i chose d:\eq2mapupdater). Addionally the eq2.ini is not modified or created in an other dir.

Microsoft Framework etc is installed and up to date. Im using Windows XP with SP2. The work around with a manual installation works fine. And also the the cfg of eq2mapupdater seems ok and all pathes to eq2 are right.

do you have it working or is it still updating ot the wrong place?
if its not working, can you try deleting the .cfg in the updaters install directory?
you can also try using the command line argument /seteq2dir. a description of command line arguments and how to set them is in the updaters download description. after you set it and run the updater once you can remove the /seteq2dir from the shortcut.

It has downloaded all your maps and then automatically started EQ Launchpad, fine so far, however ingame i still have the original map and none of your maps. Please help I am really disapointed because I always loose my way, and this tool would be a big help to me. I have also installed the newest dotfx.net 2.0 beta from Microsoft it still does not show the maps but only the normal EQ2 maps. I do not know what to do please write as soon as possible

thanks Kideli

do you have any other mods installed? if you do, do they show up?

try deleting eq2.ini in your main eq2 folder and re-running the updater, let me know if that fixes it.

I have 2 small problems:

- My maps randomly reset the fog when I log (just logged now and my anto map is black again but where I am). It doesnt happen often but still happen. I did not modify my custom UI for long, nor used the autoupdated since yesterday. One hour ago everything was just fine, it is really weird.

- I began submitting PoI, but when I see the mark on the preview page or ingame, I notice some are completely off in the map, even though after doublecheck the loc is right. Are the maps provided by SoE not really so accurate?

A while back I spoke to you about the updater halting at 98% and locking on several files. Well I left the computer and forgot about closing EQ2MAP Updater and after what must have been 15-20 min I finally got an error message...

The operation has timed-out.
File: map_lavastorm.dds

The thing is this only happens on specific files. Hope this helps...

I saw another guy post something similar, he is behind a hardware firewall/router as well. Thing is it updates some of the files fine so... <shrug> any help would be appreciated.

Edit: OK odd the file halted at 98% but when I waited for that error message ran the updater again it said no updates. Could I have a corrupt file because of what happened? I dunno what type of checks are done on eq2maps... CRC or date-time?

the updater SHOULD do an md5 check on the map files, but unfortunately it DOESNT, i noticed that i introduced a bug that causes the updater to only check if a file exists if it goes into the images/maps/ folder on the client machine, so it isnt checking it other than if its there or not. i already fixed the bug in the version i am working on, and there should be a short post about the bug on the firum, as well as the most recent thing posted in the "news" window of the updater itself.

about the only help i can offer is to try downloading the file manually, from here -> http://maps.eq2interface.com/POI_fil..._lavastorm.dds
and then putting that file into the images/maps/ folder of your custom ui directory. i wish i could offer more help but it is extremely difficult find what causes the error or how to correct it when i can't ever get the the error myself.

Hi I'm having problem seeing the map Windows XP Pro SP2. IE 6.0. Downloaded and installed the .NET framework. I know I'm doing something wrong because I still can't see the maps : ( I can install patch and update ok. I have windows firewall set to allow Everquest and the Patcher access to the web.

My install directory for eq2map is C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest II\UI\eq2map

For eq2map I have the following directory structure
UI\eq2map\ (this has the icons_xx.xml files and subdirectories)
UI\eq2map\eq2map (this has the icons_xx.xml files as above no subdirectories)
UI\eq2map\images (this has the dds files)
UI\eq2map\images\icons (this has icon_map3.dds)
UI\eq2map\images\maps (this has the map_xx.dds files)

C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest II\ has an eq2.ini file with the following text
cl_ui_skinname eq2map
cl_ui_subdir UI/

C:\Program Fiels\Sony\Everquest II\ has an additional two .ini files one called eq2_default.ini and one called eq2_recent.ini

eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml exists in two locations
1. C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI
2. C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI\eq2map

I have the Everquest II\UIBuilder directory and the associated sony UIBuilder.exe software.

I have read the _mapinfo.txt file located in C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI and I have also tried putting everything into C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI\eq2map but this didn't work either. The main thing I see different from the instructions is that I have two locations for eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml and that my xml files are duplicated under UI\eq2map and UI\eq2map\eq2map

The C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\eq2_default.ini has the following contents

cl_ls_address 199.108.12.33 199.108.12.65 199.108.12.97 199.108.12.129 199.108.12.161 199.108.202.33 199.108.202.65 199.108.202.97 199.108.202.161
cl_screenwidth 1024
cl_screenheight 768
cl_placeholder_base_lods 0
r_stats 0

cl_unload_resources_asynchronously 1
r_appearance_update_always_dist 25
cl_player_cache_dir logincache

cl_language English
cl_fullscreen 1

cl_alert_once_each 1

cl_log_crashes true

r_graph_over_time 0

r_looteffect 0
r_spawneffect 0

sfx_volume 0.90
ambient_volume 0.90
music_volume 0.50
combat_music_volume 0.55
voice_volume 0.70
resident_sound_volume 0.75

The C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\eq2_recent.ini folder has the following contents
r_performance 4

I'd love to use the map it looks really cool. Let me know if you can see what Im doing wrong or if you need any more information.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

NOTE: This is the firs UI customization I have attempted. Edited for spelling : )

Second Edit. I just tried getting on with the firewall turned off and no luck. *shrugs*

if eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml exists at C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI then there is a problem, it shouldnt be there. in the C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI folder delete eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml as well as the eq2map folder. then go to the C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II folder and delete the eq2.ini file. then run the updater. it should create the eq2.ini file for you and it should place the files in the correct location so that the mod works. you will have to wait for it to download everything again though.

Hi taco thanks for your speedy reply.

Well I deleted the duplicate xml file and removed the UI\eq2map folder and the eq2.ini file in the Everquest II folder and the updater did rebuild all the directories, xml and dds files as per the installation instructions game still runs fine, and the updater patches and still no map. Ahh well, weird stuff eh? Anyhow nevermind I guess I'll have to memorize the zones The maps look really cool though. All I can sey is keep up the great work.

Mabye if SONY puts such a feature in in by default it would save people like me some difficulty installing such a useful utility. Kudos for such a brilliant idea and your dedication implementing it. *cries pitifully*

I play on Najena server Fleshrend (SK) and Xolthar (Nec).

Default Error

I received the following error when trying to run the updater when launching the EQ2MAP program after running the UISwitcher utility, and launching to the default UI:

'-264700' is not a valid value for 'value'. 'value' should be between 'minimum' and 'maximum'.
File: icons_fprt_sewer03_0.xml

The window was not minimized. It installed 151 new maps and updated 6 zone files before getting this error.

if the ui is set to "Default" then there is no point in running the updater, because the everquest 2 patcher will replace anything that is in the default folder with the default version. you need to set up a custom ui folder.

I have the same setup and mine doesn't work either. Maybe it's just the xp pro thing that is having issues with the program? I just wish it worked. Looks like a great program. Hopefully someone on here will figure it out soon so we can enjoy it as well.

you can find a manual version in the download section of this forum. you dont have to use the auto updater if it doesnt work for you!

most likely you have an incorrectly set up eq2.ini, you have two options:
1. post what is in your eq2.ini file on this forum
2. delete your eq2.ini file and the updater will create a proper eq2.ini and make the custom folder when you run it after deleting the eq2.ini file.

sounds like the updater is being blocked from accessing the internet. it needs to have access to the internet in order to function. check and make sure any firewalls you have arent blocking it from accessing the internet, and that they arent blocking xml files either (that was apparently one users problem) also check to see that if you use a proxy with internet explorer that it works and is set up properly.
