Non-functioning Text Input

Is there a good reason why some of my text input bars should be broken?

Currently I am able to ask guards to direct me to NPCs, however, I can't use the text filter when trying to visit an friend's inn room or when filtering items on the broker. I do use a custom broker window but replaced that with the default as well as introducing the default 'visit inn room' window but still no luck, so any help would be appreciated.
