Question Keybinds Question

I don't really know where to ask this so I try in the off-topic area.

My wife, son and I all just started playing EQ2 and we all have our preferred key binds. Unfortunately we're have some major problems saving our key binds; I'm looking for help on how to have 3 different sets of key binds that can be saved and load at will.

I know of the 3 sets EQ2 offers but it seems that what we set those too they just don't stick. The save performance option seems to be only for the performance settings and not the key binds.

I've even tried to edit (what look like the key bind file) the eq2_keymap_other.ini
but that didn't make any really chances.

Please I need the community's help on this I can not keep setting my key binds every single time I log in!

Thank you in advance

Thank You SO MUCH!

Two added little questions.... first would I just change the word "Custom" throughout the process to make sets for my wife and son?

So it could read something like /save_keymaps eq2_keymap_son.ini

Second, why hasn't this been streamlined by SOE yet(I don't really expect you to be able to answer this one)?

1. Yes. That is correct. You can name the keymap ini files anything you like. I have 3 people that use my computer for EQ2 and each of us like our own keymap settings. Therefore, we each have an ini file named after our initials (such as mns.ini). That way whenever one of us logs in all we need to do is open up the Options menu and select the appropriate file from the Keyboard Layouts drop down menu. After that we are up and running without issue.

2. I really can't answer that, as you have already guessed. However, what I can tell you is that the linked workaround was for a bug that SOE introduced when they first released the load / save commands back in May 2006. I've always found it strange that they would be aware of a bug from nearly day one of it's existence and know a workaround but haven't bothered to tackle the problem head on yet. Over a year for a bug under those circumstances seems like a rather long time to me.

Having said that, the workaround has worked successfully for me since the beginning of the issue so I don't have much to complain about. Besides that, they have done an excellent job on upgrading and maintaining the game otherwise. Needless to say, despite little things like this I'm extremely happy with how SOE has handled EQ2 and this community alone makes it all worth while.

Best of luck and please post back if there's anything else that we might be able to help with.
