Default Please help me install these three UI pieces

Greetings,

I'm trying to install three individual pieces but only one of them (EQ2map) works. Please note I'm not trying to install one of the pre-made packages or "compilations" but rather three that I downloaded from the "Interface Pieces" section.

The three items are:

EQ2map
Mr. Wolfe's Harvest List
Drums CoinWeight

Here's the steps I followed:

1) Created a folder named "CustomUI" in my default "UI" folder
2) Unzipped the three mods into that folder
3) Created "eq2.ini" in the game's root folder with the following lines:

cl_ui_skinname CustomUI
cl_ui_subdir UI/

After launching the game, I find that EQ2map works fine. The other two hower do not work. The installation instructions on the two mod pages are rather unclear:

CoinWeight

CoinWeight says to make entries into a file called "eq2ui_mainhud.xml" however this doesn't exist in my "CustomUI" folder. I tried copying it from the default UI folder and modifying it but that only made the game crash.

If I remove the "eq2ui_mainhud.xml" file from my "CustomUI" folder, I can get the window to show using: "/show_window CoinWeight" or "show_window MainHUD.CoinWeight" however I get nothing but a small black window. I looked at the sticky about black windows however it says to edit another .XML file that does not exist.

Harvest Info

The only way I can get this one to show is to use: "/show_window MainHUD.Harvesting" however it also is nothing but a black window.

I noticed a lot of the "how to" and even the UI mods are from a couple years ago. Perhaps the mods aren't compatible with the new version of the game?

Would someone please be so kind as to post complete instructions on installing multiple UI pieces (not one of the pre-made packages)?

Thanks.

I'd recommend using the autoupdating map mod since the POIs are updated just about every day.

If your map mod is working ok then your eq2.ini file and custom folder are ok.

The instructions may not be entirely clear for those other two mods.

The entire UI is constructed from xml files that form a tree-like structure. The root/first xml file is the eq2ui.xml file and this includes all the children files. The eq2ui_mainhud.xml file includes everything in the MainHUD branch.

The game loads all the xml files from the Default folder but anything in your custom folder will be loaded in place of the default file if the game sees the file there.

It sounds like you corrupted the eq2ui_mainhud.xml file causing the game to crash. You need to edit in a text editor and save it as a simple text file.

Thanks for the reply.

I did edit the XML file using Notepad. What I found though is that I can't have the same file in my custom folder that already exists in the default folder. If I duplicate (copy) any files to my custom folder the game crashes.

No, that's exactly how UI mods work. The custom xml file takes precedence over the default file. You might be editing or saving the file incorrectly.

If you want, just attach your edited eq2ui_mainhud.xml file here. You should be saving it as txt and UTF-8.
