Inventory Tracker

Would anyone know how or be able to write an add-on program that would track all inventory (personal, bank, vault) that any given character has in-game? Perhaps something that would write into a .txt file in the game directory with the character name listing the name of each item and its quantity... I think MANY people would be overjoyed at a little program like this and that it would be a VERY popular add-on, not to mention useful.

An example of why:
Recently, I moved a LOT of inventory from one acct character to another acct character. Later, I found that 3 strong boxes and all of their contents have disappeared completely.

I have submitted a petition in-game, but am less than confident of what the results will be (given SOE's history of customer service).

Probably wouldn't be possible - the writing a text file is DEFINITELY impossible

There is a way to view your bank and shared bank from anywhere in game but... since SOE took steps to remove one method for doing this, I'm not going to point it out directly. Some info on this can be found on this site

Haven't found any way to view the house vault away from home.

It is probably possible to dump the tooltip inventory list for any Bag/Box into your log file via the chat window. You'd have to setup buttons to do this and the info wouldn't display in-game, only in the log file.

do you mean something like this WoW addon that lists all items from all of your characters? impossible to do with the eq2 UI scripting (in)capabilities.

I hadn't thought about dumping all the info for all characters at once, but that would be kewl.

I would love to know how to set up buttons to dump to log the tooltip info, though. So far it sounds like that is the only feasible means to accomplish this goal atm. Might I beg of you to post a little how-to here for that? or point me to one?

THIS thread covers a similar request. You'll want to pass the localtooltip value of each bag icon to the chatinput's localtext.
