Default The Amazing Vanishing Chat Window!!!

Hey peeps,

First of all I want to toss out a thank you to all of that make mods for this games.

Now with that out of the way, I have a question for you.

Does anyone else's second chat window ever just vanish on you (not saving when you log out)?

Everytime I log back on to the game, my second chat window is gone and I have to re-open it, re-size it, yada yada.

This isn't even from a mod. It happens with both the default UI and with any chat window mods I use.

Keeping with the same topic, I also have hotbars (that are unlocked) that can not be moved. I think its the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th hotbars. If I have them open, they are all unmoveable. So I end up just making some until I get to ones that I can move then close the others.

Does any of that happen to anyone else and can it be fixed? Its REALLY annoying!!!

Theely

its a bug that came with LU10 and they cant figure out how to fix it. There is a ui settings file that is supposedly bug free. I used this myself and the problem was solved.

Look for it in FetishClassic thread, post 5 (IIRC)
Also, someone uploaded it as a utility (IIRC) so its in the downloads section somewhere

The way this bug affects your UI depends on how you created your windows in the first place. If you created your additional chat windows using the "new window" command then you get the "Amazing Vanishing Chat Window" (cute phrase BTW). if you created your new chat windows using the "new tab" command then you get the "The Growing Font Size" What happens with the growing font issue? - everytime you log on, your chat font size is just a little bit larger until it can't get any bigger then it starts gain from whatever your defalt font size was and it continues to do this, cycling through the font sizes no matter what you do.

this is a real pain!

Funny this happens on some xxx sites as well lmao

Maybe the dev's need to clear out the temp net cache before working on the chat windows again lol

J/K guys

This is an old problem that seems to be resurfacing. Old thread http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=2030
and my suggestions

for me it was
in eq2_recent.ini
i deleted the last line CHAT FONT SIZE=20.
solved the problem beautifully.
if that doesn't work try deleting the eq2_recent.ini file altogether.
if that doesn't work try deleting all <charactername>***.ini files and rebuild your display.
if that doesn't work try uninstalling the game , delete the folders to make sure it's all really gone and then reinstall. (lots of patching so not recommended for dialup users)

At this point some have still had the problem. So it's your call if you want to try the last drastic step of complete reinstallation.

also one temporary work around that helps is to dock all your extra windows as tabs on your main window before you log out. when you come back they will be there and you just have to move them back and reset window settings size and location. You still lose everything if you crash or get booted but it can save some time resetting the windows.
