Auto Attack??

Can anyone give me a summary of what the Auto Attack UI is and or does?

Basically it tells you when your autoattack is ready to fire, so you can better time your spells / CAs.

I'm not sure what you mean.

So is the idea to cast spells between "swings"?? I assume the meter is showing the time between swings of the melee weapon or shots of the bow?
