Default UI Builder problems

Hello, I was playing with the ui builder. Is it me or do others have these problems I am about to list: (yes I have every driver current and installed).

1) When I look at the equi.xml as the doc states, I can only see some stuff in the preview window to the right. Many if not most things do not even display. My mouse seems to disappear when I move it over the live window too?

2) When I exit, the ui builder gives me errors! Leaked memory, like 10 to 15 of them?!?! Handle leaks to be exact last run gave me 24 of them? Is this why I can;t see much in terms fo viewinf xml pics and info on the right screen? I was looking at the group window for one particular all I see are red boxes nothing else.

Please help! I can screen shoot anything you may need if that will help.

btw: here is the error log for ui builder:

The Memory Leak Error is a known issue and everyone that uses the UI Builder is seeing those error's I suspect.

Quote:
10 Known Problems and Feature Requests

There are very likely lots of bugs and undocumented features. Up until now, UIBuilder has primarily been an internal development tool.

The more often bugs are reported, the better chance they have of being fixed. The same goes for new features: We’d like to know what would make UIBuilder more useful to you.

We won’t be keeping UIBuilder up to date at the expense of the game itself, but we’d like to make sure that the time we are able to spend on UIBuilder will have value to you.
As for your mouse cursor disappearing and Windows not showing up, I have found workarounds for the Windows not showing, and for the Mouse Cursor, On the Visual Editor portion of the Builder in the Upper Left Hand Corner is a
-> button that says Run / Stop User Interface if rolled over with the mouse. If the Run / Stop button is depressed, you will not see your mouse cursor on the Visual Editor.

Helpful Hint, make a Backup Copy outside the EQ2 folder of the Default UI and work from the Backup and not the ingame version of the Default UI folder.
Now for the Windows not being visible. That you will need to make a copy of the main File that the Window you are modifying is in. For example I changed the Main_Hud_Experience file, for my UI, so I modified the Main_Hud.xml file to only show the Main_Hud_Expierence call out in it. When I click on the Main Hud Tab after opeing the EQ2UI.xml file I only see the Window Piece I am working on and not all the Windows.

Hope this info helps.

Default Still not getting how to do this

Ok, I treid everything you said Humudce. Still I can't get this thing to work.
I am attaching a ss of what I see when I open for instance your XP mod (which I love BTW). Notice NADA in the working window. I did install UIbuilder to a dir outside of EQ2 folder too.

When I open UI Builder I cant see any of the graphics in the working window. Also, If I do see graphics, like when I open the EQ2UI.XML I can see most of the screens and see graphics, but cant see all the pics for each tab. When I try to move them around I get a red or green box that moves. But the pics do go with. If I double click the boxes (red/green) I get the window with the graphical region stuff in it but I dont know what or how to use that part.

UI wish this UI builder was a bit easier to understand. I read the doc that came with it, and still, I just dont seem to get it.

I would like to a see a tutorial file made by someone who knows how to use this editor that would be great. The old EQ1 was easier to mod, XML loeaded in aeasy to read fashion too in wordpad. This new XML loads lines so long it all jumbled and compact hard to read.

If I try to edit xml by hand, I get very strange things happening like not al lthe window pieces showing up, and that is if I only just try to take away one elemnt of the window, like modding the player window made by Daimond to get rid that darn casting bar. I took away all the code by hand in text editor to rid th ecasting bar info, and now I lose my concentration bubbles, player health/power bars (they just go grey instead of show colors). Man I am so confused.

Any more help please I really would appreciate.

Default UI builder

copy the file named "eq2ui.xml" from EverQuest II\UI\Default into your moded UI directory that contains what you're trying to change. THen open ONLy the eq2ui.xml file with the builder.

From there you edit everything, its like an all-in-one. Any modifications you m ake can be done all at once and it shows you everything at once. If something changes it just saves that automatically for you as the proper ___.xml name

Thumbs Up Woot!

Ok, I wish to give my thanks to both Humudce and Euda. I have figured the UIBuilder out. Houston, we are GREEN for launch! WOOT! Thanks to all for their help. And yep, the UI builder is pretty and easy to use once you "get" the concepts of how to use it.

Been modding like a fool, changed a few things I dl'ed. But I will keep those for me as I don't want to take away from any of the authors hard work. I think everyone who mods deserves a GRATS! I just like to tweek to my likings.

Thanks Again!
