Default Western Wastes Waypoint Icon Issue

In the upcoming expansion, the Western Wastes map has a lot of snow areas which makes finding the white X icon for waypoint locations very hard to see.

Is it possible to modify the color of the waypoint icon on a per map basis or is this not supported? I do see that icon_eq2map.dds has several different colored X icons.

Likely will want to modify the color for at least this map or modify the default icon for better visibility for the upcoming expansion release.

Yeah, that would be nice sometimes. Probably wouldn't loose a flashing neon-pink marker. LOL

Well, I decided to play with the image file and made the white "X" into a pink one. I made a backup first. I did need to edit the eq2map_ignorelist.xml file and add this file so it wouldn't update it and undo the modification.

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<IgnoreList>
   <File Name="icon_eq2map.dds" />
</IgnoreList>
I've a attached a copy of it in a zip-file. Just be sure to backup your existing copy first.

File Type: zip icon_eq2map.zip (3.9 KB, 145 views)

I have updated the icons with a black outline, still white, could change it to another color if you like, added a green one to.

Great. Thanks!

Is there a built in way to tell it to use one of the other icons? Or is it just overwriting the entry in _Skinnable_styles.xml with different SourceRect to point to another one?

No, you have to edit the _Skinnable_styles.xml file.
