Default Doesn't Appear to work

I downloaded the "Play the fae" trial - and after my 14 days ran out, decided to go ahead and purchase the game.

I did a digital download of the RoK expansion to get all the xpacs and adventure packs.

I mention this incase it matters what installation I am using.

I fully patched the game, including all the additional content (voice packs).

When I run EQ2Maps, let it update, and start the game from the EQ2map client (or start it manually) i get no dots on my maps from the eq2 map thing.

It does update all the maps according to the client downloader.

Any help or suggestions, or other questions that may be pertinent?

Rev, I'm shooting in the dark, but it sounds like you have all the files necessary to run EQ2Maps, but you neglected to edit your EQ2.ini file. This file is located in the main everquest folder. You will need it to be changed from

cl_ui_skinname default
cl_ui_subdir ui/

to

cl_ui_skinname EQ2MAP
cl_ui_subdir ui/

Another good resource is to read the installation guide here on EQ2Interface to see what files need hand modified to get mods to run for you.
How to install (faq)

Hope this fixes your problem and happy holidays.

I will give that a try zarrion - I did follow the install instructions in the app, but it did not mention any of this.

Will let you know how it works.

well -

I do not have an EQ2.INI file in my main everquest II folder.

I have the following INI files:

<username>_characters.ini
befallen_wartorn_eq2_uisettings.ini
eq2_default.ini
eq2_recent.ini
original_uisettings.ini

I re-downloaded the client (using the "reinstall EQ2" link off the everquest 2 website, and uninstalled the "play the fae" client thinking there may be a problem with that client and eq2maps compatability - still having the same issue as posted above.)

Rev.....the guide here will show you the necessary steps to take in order to use any of the UI mods found here at EQ2Interface. One of the steps will be creating an eq2.ini file and editing it properly in order to use any custom UI pieces in the game. After you follow these instructions, your issue should be resolved.

I think i figured out what the problem was. It was apparently the UI I was using that was causing the problem. I was using the penta ui, and it was not showing my map POIs. Once I went back to the default UI, I was able to use the POIs from the maps.

Thanks for all the replys on this.
