What is a Dock ?

Hello : I have been using the eq2map auto updater and the fetish addon for some time but i dont know what the Dock does. It just seems to open a blank window that does nothing. Please let me know if there is some function to this window. Thanks in advance.

if you move the dock part somewhere, next time you minimize or you expand it will set your map / inventory window to the spot you have the dock piece positioned .. you do not need to open the dock once you have it set ..
