Default Adding maps to the autoupdater

who would normally be responsible for adding maps to the autoupdate once they are finished?

I am asking as there are a number of complete maps in the EQ2MAP New maps forum that are waiting to be added.

The Living tombs
and
Shimmering Citadel

Thanks

Lia

I asked that same question in a PM a few days ago, the short answer is there working on some code that need to be finshed before they upload the new maps.

The good news is it's pretty simple to add it by yourself The maps really are very well done.

Download the image files to UI/folder_with_eq2maps/images/maps/, then replace core_mapstyles.xml in the eq2map folder with this one:
Attached Files
File Type: xml core_mapstyles.xml (42.3 KB, 285 views)

The only drawback is that you can't get POIs on them yet, but it's a small price to pay

Well, you probably could, but I didn't want to go through the trouble of figuring out the POI file format

It's actually pretty simple, as Magus pointed out. However, the server side is a bit more complex because we are generating the core_mapstyles.xml from a database. We have to make entries in multiple tables to get it going.

Right now we're working on getting the new icons_*.xml generation working - there are going to be pretty major changes to the entire file structure to support that and include POI toggeling - we've got it working on a test sever right now. We don't want to alter the current database because it would mean when we transfer over the test database, all that work would be overwritten.

In regards to adding POIs manually . . . You'd have to generate all the XML by hand, which would be a pain, especially considering that you don't have the entire community working to add them. If you knew where the POIs were, you wouldn't need them, 'eh?

Anyway, I think we're just about ready to roll out the new code, so we should be getting the new maps in shortly thereafter.
