I made a bug report as well to be sure, but of course they'll still give us in Europe the faulty patch before they fix it.

So for everybody, to turn it off while it's broken the command is

/escape_opens_start_menu true

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.
