With respect to the startbutton I was referring to the music sliders, maybe you didn't notice them yet. See this post with screenshots.

I'm wondering: What advantage does it have for the sliders to use only a limited number of levels?

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.
