I am having problems getting my UI folders in sync between live and test. I am too tired right now to fight it. Maybe tomorrow afternoon. It probably is me since you are having no problems.
Thanks for your continued work on this UI.

I've been on Test to check on UI changes, and the active quest window is working fine for me. The storyline option in the quest journal wasn't working correctly, but I've already fixed that and will be uploading it (along with some other changes) closer to Halas launch.

You're sure it was the active quest window that was being buggy? And you have the latest version, uploaded in February?

Test Active Quest Window problem

I have been looking at Halas and Travel system on Test Copy this weekend. The only UI problem I have had so far is The Active Quest Window is incompatible when using Thorui redux. If I /loadui default the problem goes away. Not sure this is just you or a UI change. And as the thread on forums said, With Brenlo gone we probably won't get a heads up.

Thank you! I thought I'd run across something like that a while ago, but couldn't find the reference (my google-fu on the forums sucks ), and didn't want to make a statement or mess with anything until I was certain about that.

I'll keep that in mind about no warning message. I'm used to seeing bright red warnings when it's bad UI coding. Makes me wonder if other things I couldn't get to work were, in fact, coding errors that just didn't generate a warning. :: makes notes to go mess with more stuff before next release ::

If you can find out if Windows 7 does the same thing, that'd be great! Either it hasn't been reported yet or my google-fu is weak, because the only references I could find about it were Vista. Maybe my mom will let me muck with her laptop for a day or three to check...

I also should have verified that Dave did have the eq2.ini folder in the right place.

Second, while yes, EQ2 is loading the UI, the game is still loading under the Windows 7 OS. As I said earlier, I don't know for sure if Windows 7 does what Windows Vista did, but I do know that Windows Vista would stick a copy of the eq2.ini file in a hidden folder, and the game would use THAT .ini instead of the one in the EverQuest 2 directory. Once it did that, no changes my friend made to the eq2.ini file - or .ini files for other programs - would take. We were going nuts trying to figure out what was wrong, until she found the hidden folder with .ini files for most of her programs. She was then able to edit the eq2.ini file there and change her UI settings at will.

Thank you for helping out on this, and especially for offering alternate solutions I wouldn't have thought of even if I'd remembered to ask the right questions. But the ignored .ini file is something I've personal experience with.
Ahh OK I didnt use Vista long enough to have any issues with it lol, but eq2 has diverted to the default UI without giving me any warnings on numerous occasions and I can confirm it was due to me having a bad line within an xml file i was editing. I will have a look around and see if I can tell you if 7 does the same as Vista.

OK I just looked and that location you advised that Vista puts the eq2.ini file does not exist on my Windows 7 but I have only installed EQ2 from CD once in my entire 5+ years as I always keep an up-to-date copy on an external hard-drive.

I cant advise you on what to do with this UI as I dont use it, but in my experience when I mess with my UI and it only loads the default it is usually due to something wrong with one of the UI files. The UI is a bunch of xml files that customize things within EQ2 and dont actually have much to do with what OS u use. OSs tend to cause problems with 3rd party stuff like a UI installer and updater.

Basics:
Make sure the eq2.ini file is correct. If there was any .xml files that you were to edit make sure there is no mistakes, 1 piece of text or something in the wrong place can cause the UI to crash and it reverts to the default.

Rename or move a file you suspect is causing the problem, for example you mentioned the new quest helper not working so delete, rename or move it.

On the chance there is a corrupt file re-download the UI again and delete everything to do with the old UI.

Move all your Characters Data files to a new folder incase the problem is there.

Delete the cache folders relating to your characters.

--------------

Thats all that comes to mind for now. I would do these in the order I have put them 1 at a time. If you do them all at once you dont know what the problem was. Doing them 1 at a time will tell you where the problem was when the UI loads.

Just remember its eq2 that loads the UI files not MS Windows.

I don't have Windows 7, so I can't say for sure if it's doing the same thing, but my friend was having a similar problem with Vista. Turned out Windows wasn't reading the .ini file from the EverQuest 2 directory; all .ini files got copied to a hidden directory and that was the one Windows was using. It's entirely possible Windows 7 is doing the same thing.

The path in Vista, I believe, was C:\Users\(Your
Name)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files. See if Windows 7 has the same or similar. If it does, put the eq2.ini file there.

If that's not the issue, then I'm out of my depth.

The Quest Box should be functioning - I posted the update on launch day, and have been using it myself without issue. If, when you get the UI to work, it's still not functional, let me know and I'll try to work through it with you.

xp numbers

when i really look close at the numbers, it appears there is a semi-colon in front of the last number. the coding is long past where i used to be able to play with but i wonder if there is an error in the way its displayed? or maybe the number is called a float when it should be something smaller or different?

I dont know if this helps at all, but trying

I hadn't even thought of adding that checkbox - probably because my new spells coming in so far have been less powerful than the versions before it, so I'm keeping the previous versions up until I can upgrade the new ones. Definitely will get that added on!

One way or another I will figure out what the heck is up with the xp bars... somehow...

Thor UI Spell Journal

I love the ui, it is big enough to do what I wanted yet doesnt overwhelm me. One question I have is, would you be able to add another checkbox to the spellbook please? The one that offers to sort only latest spells. I generally never use anything lower then my max.

Thx
