Download again (same link), if the path to Everquest2.exe can't be read from the registry it will prompt you for your Everquest 2 folder.

I dont think you understand what is doing. It always has the everquest II path: box.. its always blank. I click the "browse if not correct" button. In the find window It has under fille type ONLY eq2.exe. It ONLY wants eq2.exe. I dont have an EQ2.exe. I have an Everquest2.exe. so I can never put the directory in. I have even pasted the correct directory in the path window. All it does is install it on the root of the drive in a folder called deadbeats.
I even tried not putting anything in the path, and it does the same thing.
I also get an error when starting it, like others have, I get an error about 1/2 thru like others have, and it never says complete. I have left it running for 12 hours, and it just says copying files.
All of this is no big deal. It downloads the stuff to a folder, I copy the stuff to the proper place.. No biggie. I do thank you for trying to help me.

Discovered a new issue last night. In the lfg window, if I search for a group and then click on a persons name in the lfg window, the game crashes to desktop immediately.

I tried to install it today, did a Full Install from your main window, and also tried a partial install. It appears to go quite some way into downloading files, then I get the beep that an error occurred but no message box. The program crashes to desktop, but one time task manager still showed it as a current task, with no cpu cycles being used.
I do have EQ2Maps installed (although I didn't install it after yours, nor updated it). Do you have to uninstall it as well?
The system used Win2k, full patched to current, and has .Net 2 installed.
When I run EQ2, the UI does load so I think everything is working normally except that the download program may be crashing before everything is patched. It's hard to tell. Also, the Play EQ2 button is always disabled.
More notes:
* The Inventory Screen -- Top left text shows character name and race, but the levels say "Level Level 17" and "Level Level 32". They also are not aligned, and there appears to be text on the next line below but it is cut off (only the top few pixels show).
* Guild Events page -- the event text and the icon both start at the left side of the screen, with the icons overwriting the first few characters of the line of text.
* The chat windows use a backdrop bitmap, is there a way to remove that backdrop? I prefer a black background, since I find the text hard to read (especially blue on blue).
Overall I like it though! Thanks very much. Playing around with it now.

Everytime i start DB's Mod Updater, I need to click the update button. And everytime I do that, it starts to download new files. Even if I do it twice in a row. Why is that?
It's not a problem though. Just want to know. It seems like it's the same files being updated also.

If you can send me or attach the 'errorLog.txt' file from *\Everquest 2\DBsMod folder
The greyed out Play button is usually a pathing issue, make sure the path shown is correct.

Removed the redundant 'Level'.

I added a new button next to Settings and Close that toggles a black background on and off, let me know what you think.

The updater downloads a file 'updates.txt' which contains a list of files, the updater then downloads those files. When the updated files list gets too long I consolidate into a new version.
I did everything with text files so there would never be an issue with people wondering what is being downloaded/installed.
Running the updater once a week is more than enough to stay current.

I had already looked at the other thread regarding the incorrect path setting is regedit, but as far as I can tell it all looks fine.
The current regedit settings are:
(Default) REG_SZ E:\Everquest II\EverQuest2.exe
Path REG_SZ E:\Everquest II
That path name is correct for my current EQ2 install. Is there an issue with the space in "Everquest II"? You had instructions not to put spaces in for your own subfolder, but this has been my install directory for years.
Overall, it works great. There are two issues that are critical though:
* The first I mentioned earlier regarding the chat text background, which makes a lot of the chat text very hard to read on my system. Is there a setting I can change to remove it?
* The window for tradeskilling (with the Search, Find and Filter options, plus the list of tradeskill items) is too narrow to show all text. It shows the Icon for the item to make, the name, and then the first letter of how hard that item is to make. But it leaves off the level, and that is pretty critical. The form size isn't changeable, but can it be? Or can it be preset to be wider than it is now? It looks like it needs another 10% or so increase in width.
Thanks!

This is not what you see?
For the error I will have to do a bit of code change, it's trying to copy the eq2.ini file into your root Everquest II folder and shouldn't be hanging. Fix might have to wait

Sorry, it was the Event Filters (rather than Events as I said) page which is showing the overlapping icon and text. Its very similar to what you show, but the text starts under the icon. Both start immediately on the left side of the box, with the icon on top.

Thanks very much. I don't know why but your previous message didn't refresh for me before. I think it was hung up on the image download, and so I didn't get the entire response (only the first part of it).
But I sure do appreciate it. I have been using it all day today, and like it very much, as well as your fast changes.

No, but it is close. The heading is the same, the icon and recipe name (Pristine Ferrite ...) look the same. But the difficulty and the level are pushed far over to the right edge of the form, so that only the first letter is showing.
What I just noticed as I was writing this up is that only one character does this. All others show the form much like your image. Only the first one I tried does this weird column shifting (he is an alchemist), and unfortunately he was the one I was playing all day. The others work fine, even for alchemy.

Ok, no problem. It seems to work in any case though. It does download and patch from what I can tell, it just won't autostart EQ2. I can live with that pretty easily.

I loaded back my original character and the issue resolved itself, and the form looks like your image above (and like all my other characters). But, I started to play around with it to see if something changed over the day and I managed to reproduce the problem.
That character was the one I played all day (doing Rush Orders). It turns out that every time you apply a filter to the list, that rightmost column of Difficulty values shifts ever so slightly to the right; almost so small a change that I barely see it. But when I repreatedly change filters (Chemistry, Scribing, Artistry ...) the column clearly wanders to the right. Eventually the entire column was too far off to the right to be seen.
Hope that helps, and I wonder if anyone else can reproduce this as well.
