Best bet with any flavor of Vista is to run everything as administrator including the initial setup of the installer.

Just came back to eq2 and wanna try this mod out but not working for me. Using xp so dont have the vista problems, but heres what its doing. Did everything that readme said, downloaded, install and had a dbsmod folder in the eq2 directory. Ran the full install, but instead of making a folder in the ui folder it does this. Sony>Everquest 2>Deadbeats>dbsmob>files.
So its basically making a new eq2 folder. Doubt thats right.
Looks like this. Sony folder. sub folders>Everquest 2>Everquest II ( which is the install of eq2 and everything else>station launcher>Eq2maps updater.
Any help be great.

On the initial installer make sure to browse to your EQ2 install if it's not pointing to it correctly, this is the folder that contains Everquest2.exe. The default location is ~\Program Files\Sony\Everquest II.
Once installed it creates ~\Program Files\Sony\Everquest II\DBsMod - thats the default location for my updater.
When you run the updater it looks in your registry for the location of Everquest2.exe and if it can't find that entry it will prompt you for the location.
Best bet is to uninstall and then reinstall paying close attention to pathing to make sure everything is points correctly to your EQ2 install.

Have everything pointing to my eq2 install, uninstalled, redownloaded, reinstalled, made sure everything was right and still makes a new EQ2 folder inside the sony folder. All inside the new eq2 folder is the mod.
Installer is pointing where it should

Then I am at a loss, the installer does not have any code to create a new EQ2 folder.
At this point just move everything into the corrct place and see if it works.

Crafting In Guild House
Can can not seem to get my character to use the supplies from the supply box in the guild house I have to go and get supplies and have them on me for my character to craft. I know in the original EQ2 game (no mode running) there is a check box to tell the system to use harvestables from the guild supply box. Any plans to add a check box or something that allows you to use the guild supply box so you do not have to keep all the supplies on you to craft?

While I appreciate the offer there's no need, been doin this since early beta and as long as I continue to play I will keep it updated. (and I'm glad you like it)

This UI looks gorgeous, but every time I run the updater it freezes with a (not responding) message. I've downloaded and installed three times. Is there some place to get a manual download without messing with the updater?

In your *\Everquest 2\DBsMod folder there should be an error.txt file can you copy the contents here?
Typically freezing simply means a connection issue to my server for the downloads.

Missing Chracter Names
Does anyone else lose the names of their toons from the shutdown screen?
I have even copied my wifes eq2ui_mainhud_shutdown.xml file to my machine. The names from her file show up until I shutdown EQ and they are blank again. I have completely reinstalled the UI with the same result.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I no longer include the full EQ2Map in my mod, install or update EQ2Map first then run my updater. The updater will overwrite any EQ2Map files I have customized.

Should be fixed now, had a typo in the updates.txt file that was causing the updater to end before it had a chance to create the custom shutdown window.

Install difficulties
I am running XP Home with all the service packs and relevant updates.
I downloaded the installer, unpacked it, ran it, and it created a folder called "DbsMod" in my eq2 directory. It created an eq2.ini and other files in that directory, including a program called DB's Mod Updater.
If I run EQ2, no UI mod appears, and using the "loadui" command shows only the default.
If I run the Mod Updater program, it brings up a listing where I am supposed to enter character names and server. Considering that I use multiple servers, I'm not quite sure what to put there, but that's beside the point.
If I click "update" it runs and exits quickly after doing nothing.
If I click "full install" it almost immediately brings up an error message:
Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
Cannont create "C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest II\EverQuest2.exe" because a file or directory with the same name already exists.
I click Details to get further information, and it brings up a bunch of exception text:
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
.....
If I click "Continue" to bypass the error message, it says that it is downloading files, but I see no progress indicator, and can detect no download activity across my router.
Help?
P.S.: I am new to EQ2. I downloaded the 15-day test drive and then upgraded to the full version of TSO and paid my subscription. I have not (yet) attempted to install other mods. Yours was the first.

My Installer only needs Net 2.0 installed to run which you most likely have already.
The download is for the Installer/Updater, once installed it needs to be run to actually download and install my mod. Best suggestion at this point is to uninstall through Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs then reinstall.
Then try a full install again.
The character boxes are used to create a custom shutdown window in-game to allow you to switch between characters on the same account and server quickly. Leaving them blank will not break anything.
