Default Windows 7 Error

This is the error that I received after installing Eq2 maps onto my computer. "There was an error trying to launch Everquest II, Please open Everquest 2 manually."

When I go into the options setting on Eq2 maps this is the path that is set:

Everquest 2:

C:\ProgramData\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest II

Autolaunch Eq2:

C:\ProgramData\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest II\EQ2.exe

Please let me know if you have any thoughts on this or know how to fix it.

Thanks for your time and help.

Are you running the EQ2Map updater with administrator rights?

Yeah when you have EQ2 installed in your program files directory windows will require admin rights from any 3rd party program trying to write files to it.

So either give eq2map admin rights or move your EQ2 folder to a games directory off the root.

to:

C:\ProgramData\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest II\Launcher.exe

Thanks for your time and help.
This happens whenever you're using one of the newer launchers, since EQ2.exe is the old (original game style) launcher and is not included by the newer ones (like the streaming launcher).

I wonder what the adoption rate on the new launcher(s) is... given that they're no longer advertising / hosting the original game launcher it might be worthwhile to have the updater check for Launcher.exe if EQ2.exe is not found.
