Aye finally the Soga models .. spent the last hours playing with them ... and so far some have piqued my interest and some have me thinking what happened here

Eg, Halfling female looks very Yuna like ..
Love the De's they just look mean
The female Dwarves are smaller then gnomes and they also look a lot like Yuna.
Male Dwarves I think look like they fresh out of marine bootcamp

Seems that when you first log into test you get the basic models .. have to zone in .. goto options and turn on the soga models ... but there's a 'slight' hitch .. doing so will make most of the models in the char select vanish... no models to look at .. can do the creation then zone in .. unselect and reselect to make your character finally show up but I'd love to see what all the options actually are ...

Braids and hair style past the shoulders for both models seem to be gone, replaced with short styles (at least the ones I've tried are and I hope this changes)
Also the animations are unfinished .. you run around and stop your character feezes in that last motion till you move again. So looks like the Soga's are in their very early beta stage. (was hoping for something more if they made test , but then maybe they also testing out the servers strain too)

Only ran the basic UI on test .. haven't gotten around to playing any of the UI's but there is the new Soga button option under options with all the races male/female with check boxes beside each race combo to turn on and off as needed .. so far you don't need to relog to see the changes .. they are immediate.

So have fun playing

I was going to post a compare but the interface on the test server is in pretty rough shape. There are a lot of alignment / sourcerect issues so I’ll hold off until that is patched up some.

Anyways here is a picture of the new borders. I like this border much more then the previous but I still like the old old one better.

Already submitted a bug with for the sourcerect issue on the corners of the new thin border. Notice the 1px black lines NW,NE,SW,SE corners on the hotbar or any other window that uses that border. Also bugged the layering issue or missing graphic under the [.][?][x] buttons.

I couldnt get the female models to work unless I toggled from regular/soga every time i zoned.. which ment i couldnt view the female soga's during character creation.. just me? or is there a problem?

No one can see the female SOGA models so if you can at all, I guess that's an improvement! As for the UI windows, I liked the Desert of Flames fine wood furniture look even though it had big borders. Oh well.

SOGA models are the models made for the asian release of EQ2. Sony decided to offer them to the rest of us as options, but they're not quite ready yet, as seen on Test

no no, SOGA combat... have you ever seen anime? battles are supposed to last three hours each and consist mostly of dialog.

Aren't we mainly doing that now with some of these epic mobs .. just looking at it cursing its name with it slaughters us 3 times over every attempt??

Well tonight they've got the character creation for the soga models working .. yaaaaa

Now whats the best way to load a custom UI onto test .. seems the basic eq.ini isn't there...
