Question Questupdate feedback in chatwindow...

Hi there,

is there any way to give a questupdate feedback into the chatwindow?

What I'm trying to ask is, if you kill a mob that you need for a quest, you will get a onscreen messege like 3/10. Is there a way to put the same message into into groupchat´for example?
This would sometimes be very usefull if you are questing with some buddies who don't have the same quests, so your group will know how many mobs are left to finish the quest.
A function like the questhelp window would also be nice where I can take a look at the groupmembers quests, so I do not need to look into the journal all the time ...

Greetings Leiche

theoretically you can dump the popup text into groupchat, but you cannot differentiate between types of text and will just dump anything that pops up for you, which will likely lead to a /kick and /ignore.

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Actually this groupchat spamming wouldn't be a problem, because most of the people I know don't communicate over chat. They allways use Teamspeak and if someone doesn't like it while you are in a random group, there should be a button to turn the function off

Maybe there is a way to filter the dumping text, like ...

"if there is any number in the text, then dump to groupchat"

Such a solution would be best, I guess...
My only problem after all will be that I'm a total programming noob

Hmm, we can't filter parts of text, but theoretically entire text lines could be filtered out.

Thanks a lot gm9.
My last question is, where I can find a tutorial how to create such a XML file for EQ2.
What syntax do I need to implement this feature? A "howto" XML is not the problem, I just don't know how to use it with EQ2.
I looked up many threads in this forum, but most of the information is really complicated, so I didn't get it at all what was meant.

Or is there anybody out there, who could code this?

Find eq2ui_mainhud_onscreenmessage.xml , open in notepad, find
<Page
and replace with
<Page OnShow="groupsay MessageText.Text"
Save the file, run the game, find a group and start spamming.

Disclaimer: This is done from memory, might be the wrong file or wrong name of the text element, I don't have the file at hand.
