I will be going to the SOE FanFaire in Vegas along with about 20 guildies. Just wondering who else here is going?

Only 4 days away from FanFaire! Hopefully I'll be able to get the scoop on the new map system planned for EQ2.

I won't be able to make it out to the Fan Faire but I did ask Josh Kriegshauser (Autenil), the Associate Technical Director, about the new map system at the Block Party on Saturday.

It was first leaked with the Rise of Kunark press release but it was retracted on the same day so it may not be "officially" public.

Josh said that the new map system would likely come out in a GU after RoK. They are tending to include more maps than in the original game, like the way EoF had maps for dungeons for the first time. He also said they would try to support the functionality of the current map window as a legacy option since so many people use the eq2map mod.
